Email update from John Lewis on PS5 stock:

You recently signed up to be notified about the upcoming launch of the Sony PlayStation 5, and we’re excited to let you know that it will be available to buy on the morning of Thursday 19 November.

Due to exceptionally high demand and limited availability, the PlayStation 5 is expected to sell out very quickly. To help you save time when shopping for your console, we’ve put together some handy tips below:
  • The PlayStation 5 console will be available to purchase online only.
  • Due to the demand for the PlayStation 5, we’ve set the order limit to 1 PlayStation 5 console per customer – this is to try and make things fairer for everyone.
  • To help you place your order more quickly, you may wish to create an account with us in advance.
  • PlayStation 5 consoles will not be available for purchase at any of our John Lewis & Partners stores or from our contact centres.
  • Unfortunately, we are not currently able to say when we expect further stock to be available.
  • Contact centre Partners will not be able to place an order for you and will also be unable to give dates or times for future stock availability on this product.

Guess I won't be going to sleep until lunchtime then
Do you know what time they formally open online? Is it midnight or some time tomorrow am?

My works allocation of PS5 was delivered last week. Ridiculously small amount of consoles and can’t see us getting many more before Xmas.
What's the reason for the shortage of consoles? Has their been a ridiculously high demand or production issues? Seems very strange that the buildup to a big console release and there are 10's thousands of people struggling to get their hands on it.

Honestly have no idea what's going on - was the new Xbox the same?

We had loads more xboxes in than ps5.
(Still even have xboxes not been picked up as well)

We have hundreds of games, plenty of controllers, but hardly any consoles.
Weird.

Demand is miles higher than expected due to Covid.

Cyberpunk defenders are insane. No one can raise any issues on Reddit without being piled on.

Same with any high profile game. No Man's Sky was beyond the pale in terms of fanboy response prior to release.

Then it came out, was crap, and people sent death threats to people saying it was crap.

Idiots.

P.S. I still have no idea why anyone would want a next gen console on release right now... there's next to no games for them.
