The rain, it raineth every day

Watching the sky post match analysis yesterday I noticed the balance of opinion was mostly squared at Man Utd's failure rather than Everton's success. This perturbed me somewhat so as an exercise in futility the following day I scoured youtube for other broadcaster's opinions. Unfortunately right across the board the message was loud and clear; Man U have been lazy and let Everton's industrious efforts win the day. There simply was very little talk of Everton's skill set. I was annoyed to further discover Everton legends such as Andy Gray and Tim Cahill following this skewered discourse.
Look, I get that it's kind of tempting to focus more on the giant corporate clubs that have a global presence. From a business perspective I get that. However it is clear that these ex footballers have been coerced into such a blatant and narrow focussed opinion it leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
Let's get it straight Everton have recently beaten three money giants of the game. It wasn't all down to our plucky industrious play. Solid skills and tactics have been employed. It will be interesting to see how the media narrative will play out once our blue sleeping giant starts challenging the top four.
Yes you are right. However I think the media has a responsibility to give a truer reflection of the reality. It wouldn't hurt them to give us some praise, that isn't patronising. Also I think you undersell what has been achieved by saying, "the odd win." Three tremendous wins against 3 powerful global clubs in close succession represents a powerful talking point that the TV media as a whole has sadly ignored.Sadly, the fact is that a far greater proportion of the global audience following premier league football is more interested in why United lost than how Everton won. That then is what the media pander too. That’s not going to change until the audience is made up of many more people following or interested in Everton. It’s not the media’s job to whip up global interest in Everton. That’s the Board’s job. Powerful marketing, shrewd international partnerships and heavy investment to realise sustained success on the pitch are what’s needed to raise the global identity of the club and put us back on the front page. The odd good win against a top club alone isn’t going to change anything in this respect.
Jermain Jenas is up there with the worst pundit of all time. He talks utter muck. Dame Edna Everage could do a better job.Entering the higher echelons of witless know it all football 'pundits'.

You understandably want us to become like the other corporate behemoths in order to compete on an equal footing. Imagine it, all those global fans travelling to Bramley Dock. If we are to be like them with all their exploitative marketing savvy then so be it. Everton will rise again, but at what cost? Everton without a soul, lost to the money gods!I wasn’t justifying the lack of appreciation for the feat; I was trying to explain why the media aren’t covering it with the fanfare we both agree it deserves![]()
The BBC started scraping the barrel a long time ago with these journeymen "pundits" who talk a lot, but don't really say much of substance. How the hell does some sports producer elevate the likes of Stephen Warnock who was hardly noticeable on the pitch for the RS never mind now being a talking head on TV. Its not just him, theres a raft of them standing on pitches at half and full time holding mics as though theyre waiting for the firing squad. Jenas now fancies himself as a higher shelf pundit being an MOTD fixture ...which is usually the cue for the bubble to burst. Maybe he may raise his game. Bring back the days of Allison, Crerand and Clough nearly coming to blows regards opinion....I don't recall one of them saying of a missed pen... "He'll be disappointed with that."Jermain Jenas is up there with the worst pundit of all time. He talks utter muck. Dame Edna Everage could do a better job.

Only been two commentators worth listening to, ever:
Michael O'Hehir on racing; and
Richie Benaud on cricket (And there goes McGrath, out for 2. 98 short of his century.'
