I suspect most forum contributors can reel off a selection of their favourite comedians, but when it comes to comedy, can women cut the mustard? If so, who and why.
State your cases.

Jo Brand is the best female in my opinion. She really is quite funny sometimes.

Shappi Khorsandi is alright to be fair, she doesn't play on the fact that she's a woman too much which is an annoying common trait found in Comediennes. She's been on Mock the week a few times and made me laugh.

Gotta say dont find fanny stand up remotely funny,, total gash IMO..

But as far as funny females go,, defintely Sandi Toksvig and Kathy Burke are the canine genitilia...

Agreed, though Toksvig trades on being a lemon, and Burke is more an actress. A couple of them that did 'smack the pony' had their moments and were obviously good enough to branch out cos one or two turned up in other stuff like partridge and the like. French and Brand just tell dull as fat jokes, one lass on 'mock the weak' just raises her voice to illicit a measure of humour (and fails!). ATM I can't remember her name but there is a woman I remember from 'room 101' and 'QI' that does a lot of radio work that can certainly hold her own.

I find the vast majority of female comedians either poor or completely useless. Mock The Week highlighted how bad they are really; you could have four or five decent laughs in a row from the fellas then the woman would pipe up with something and put a downer on everything.

I think women are genius at being funny when they're not trying to be, but fail badly when scripting it.
