coleman right midfield?

I don't think his confidence would take a knock, especially if he was playing out of position. Remember the Benfica drubbing? His confidence was fine after that.

He knows his own ability, I think, hence him not being scared of going at people.

So out of interest, would you start him rb next game, with someone who's played a few games in prem n that position. Or would you play Hibbo with Coleman rw?

i never got to see the game on sunday but the highlights shown coleman come on right midfield and he set up 2 great chances. therefore moyes surely must be on to this tactic?
i think he will keep it in mind if things arnt going to plan but i just cant see him starting coleman out wide

yeah looked better when he came on. So much energy and not scared to take on people. Never mind, suppose Hibbo does some good as well

We were 2-0 down at home to Spurs last year and Coleman came on and between him and Saha turned the game round to make it 2-2. Coleman played as a right back, right midfielder and right winger in one.

I think he could do really well as Brucie stated- hasnt done Bale any harm.

Did the Pitch Rescue come get him?

One thing that will always keep Americans off football - they will never accept something as silly as the Pitch Rescue. Two lads trotting out with a fold-up stretcher to carry a player off the pitch when everyone knows he's coming back on after three squirts of magic spray.

First off - we're Americans and we like things motorized so we use golf carts and small tractors, not camp cots.

Second - we expect our players to walk it off. If they come off on a golf cart, they best be off to the hospital or somewhere for x-rays.

End of tangential rant springing from silly comment.

Back to thread....

Yet American footballers wear padding and helmets.

Lightweights.

But what about poor little Leon, maybe Moyes can squeeze him in as a second goalie or something instead.

How come we never try Leon in that attacking mid role? He does well in the center, and he's got tidy feet. Just a thought.

But anyway, he'll be strictly cover. If Arteta's fit, I can't see Leon getting a game. Unless of course Moyes puts him on the right :(

hate to say it but coleman is clearly moyes 3rd/4th choice right back and 4th/5th choice right midfielder.

we have more chance of moyes picking heitinga in goal , mucha on the wing and distin up front than moyes playing coleman at rm from the start.

Because he ends up playing with his back to goal and is easily pushed off the ball. Osman needs to be facing the play, which is why he suited to playing as a centre mid, getting from box to box. If Arteta's injured, and there's likely to be spells where he is, Osman should take over as our ball playing centre mid.

As for Coleman, I think he's definitely worth a go out there. He's capable in one on one situations, has a varied attacking game and has an energy about his game. You look at Donovan for example, he wasn't there to be a playmaking wide player, he gave us an outlet, and that's what we need at the moment. Coleman doesn't quite have his pace but he's got more about him in terms of dribbling ability from what I've seen.

there are way too many better players before him on the right hand side though!!

hibbert, neville, osman, victor, rodwell ect.....so im afaid its not going to happen! i think we should give distin a try there! he would be great cutting inside!

I dare say Coleman will be better than Baines in the near future. The only thing that is stopping his development is lack of play time.

At the mo our young mister Coleman is not up to the job of attacking full back YET, and thats a BIG YET, in defence he is not the full package.

now right midfield/winger on the other hand he stands out as the best we have got for the first time in some years we have some one who can play that position well, and it give us balance going forward.
for a long time we have depended on the left hook and jab, now we have a right hook to fear and can really work some combinations,
dont forget all those that we have had in that position are better and more comfortable in other areas of the park,
Anichebe=forward
Osman= centre mid (natural cover for Arteta )
Bily=centre mid (should be keeping Cahill out of the first team soon)
Rodders=centre mid (should be keeping everyone out of the first team soon)
pienaar and gueye = both better on the left midfield
