....I like a coffee, before I retired I would buy one daily on my way into the office. I don’t like the instant stuff, though, & have never found a machine that makes a good coffee so I only drink tea at home (as well as rum & Aussie Whites).

Americano with milk for me.

Agreed. I figured we spent nearly 1k every year in capsules and comparatively I import some Italian roast for less than 150 annually- in 5 years nearly paid the machine off

My colleague has the Rocket and he was the reason I finally took the plunge to invest a professional machine/setup
where do you import from Barca? I'm looking for a decent place to buy beans in a cheaper than high street prices

Could you elaborate on that please. Quite interesting all this.

Years ago I stumbled upon what some might find a very standard roast while vacationing in Tenerife but it had the right level of taste, darkness & chocolate notes that I took a photo of the bag to try and locate distributers. Turns out they primarily manufacture for restaurants & coffee houses out of Italy, not currently selling to private

Ultimately, I found an online retailer in Italy

I go through periods of sampling other roasts but keep coming back to this one from Italy to where I rarely deviate anymore - I also order about 24kg at a time to last the year to keep shipping/VAT reasonable

Espresso Beans - I love this roast. It ticks all the boxes I love in a good espresso: great rich crema, full/dark body but still sweet chocolately taste. Espresso/coffee taste is personal so I happen to love this one but I also get compliments about it all the time

Store

One other thing about the store, they have a lot of great options including their own roasts but what is pretty handy is that they also make capsules for Nespresso machines from those roasts and that has been a nice thing to order from time to time

After visiting Costa Rica a few years ago and visiting a coffee plantation,I decided to buy a grinder and machine etc. To be honest I found it a bit of a chore to go through all that fuss for one cup f coffee. Sold everything except for the grinder which I now use for “cake making”. Much nicer.
