We just need:

to sort us out.

Random I know, but it might be a bit more effective than typical methods.

-Beardsley may have been a good shout at the right time.
Too many games last season would have benefitted from Big Dunc's spirit.
However, I think we have to go abroad for these skills at there best,
+rather than import one player who may or may not gel and adapt to British football,
We should effect the sythesis here embeding our own values too.
Thanks Dylan btw :)

A lot of the term cultured coach going around this thread.. This a championship manager term?
Problem is tactics.. You take a striker that is used to playing alongside another striker and then isolate him from everyone including the midfield and your going to get a reduced performance.
You put anyone bar perhaps Tevez and Drogba in our team and there goal rate will decline on most.
Having said that I am not too unhappy with our strikers goal haul this season
Nearly 30 goals from 3 players isn't bad.

Weir was a rumour this morning iirc...
I bumped this thread because it's generic, not because of the previous posts per se. Creativity and cunning whilst we had possession was an issue in the last third of the pitch last season I believe. The creative and playmaking midfielder isn't born with all the required attributes, some of these skills are passed on by the experienced. I just reckon that rather than dreaming of 5punking a wad out of L4 on one player that another academy has helped to create, we could invest further in our youth and players :)
Would this make sense?

Why does a coach have to have played in a position to be any good? I don't remember Wenger, Mourinho or Sven pulling up trees as players, and United don't exactly do bad defensively despite Ferguson being a striker as a player.

A coach should work with the players in every training session, defensive coach with de defenders and so on.i have never heard of a strickers or midfielder coach at everton. Maybe thats why we are so defensive at home to the teams that we should be beating,eg wolves, west brom, newcastle ect.

Stubbsy under 18s coach, didn't know that to be honest!

Still if you look at that side they're same as the first team, very good in defence, no one conceded less goals than they did during their season. But when was the last time we had a goal difference of +25?

I think it reinforces my initial feelings, bar Sheedy.
I agree with you Neiler, but that's as a manager, there's only so much Holloway can give his teams from 11yrs up,mainly he's dependent on others at this level.
Moyes would like to play great football imo,but he had to back down his attempt during the 1st 1/3of the season and go more direct 'cos we couldn't break the opposition down when they had 11behind the ball.
I hope he doesn't give up on this!

Ian Holloway was the dullest player in the world, who would have thought his teams would be massively exciteing.

Quite. Makes you wonder what the point of doing coaching qualifications/training if all it does it turn out idiots that rely purely on their knowledge as a player. Of course it could be that it's the fans that are idiots that have no clue about what it takes to be a good coach and think "ugh, Coach X was a 'insert position', and therefore his coaching ability must equate to his playing ability in that position". It's frankly retarded logic from retarded minds.
