Closing Thoughts on the Transfer Window

In January, there will be decent players available whose clubs are no longer in the CL and EL and who will not be attractive to other clubs still in these competitions but will be attractive to us.

We definitely need to be top 8, maybe higher, at that point to attract decent players in January I think.

So let's all get behind what we have (except Niasse) and hope we are!

That's a question for the scouting department mate and what they're paid to figure out and accomplish isn't it? No point asking me, they're the ones who are supposed to have identified the realistic targets to improve the squad. My point is that whatever way you cut it they failed to accomplish what they were seeking to do which was add more players to the squad.

This squad is also 2 years older now from when we finished 5th and in case you haven't noticed we finished 11th 2 years on the bounce and some of that can be credited to the teams around us making decent transfer deals and not just Martinez being a tit.
Why quote on a transfer thread if you're not prepared to say who would want in? Leicester were crap until they got Ranieri and some momentum, same players tho. We have added just not the players us fans wanted which goes back to my original question who could we really get in for what we are offering?

We got what our current situation dictates????

There were so much players te pick up who were not 30 or 40 mil but we only wanten players who were not interested. I keep saying: we could have had janssen and Ziyech for 30 mil. Then you had creativity and a promising striker behind Lukaku and they're both verry young but instead of that we wanted to spend 60 mil on Bolasie and Sissoko.
Did Janssen not go to Tottenham?

At what point during the day did his name first emerge regarding Everton, 5pm or so? I know there was a Swansea link first. I doubt his name was even on a list of targets as we entered yesterday.

I first heard him linked with Swansea in the morning, I'm almost sure that our link to him mate was a lot later than 5 o'clock, I could be wrong, but I'm sure it was just before 9.

Everton Management trying to fumble their way through a transfer window

My thought about this window:

1. Regarding the deals - I am happy with what we have got. Solid, proven players and the real revelation Guye has been so far. They have already started to gain us points. I also have a good feeling about the lad we took from Sheffield United. The only realistic ones we didn't get and I feel sorry for are Kone and Bony. However, I think that our best transfer was Koeman himself.
2. Regarding the existing players - I do hope that many of them realize that not buyng star players gives them a great chance to step their game up and to impress, at least till January. Players like Lukaku, Deulofeu, Barkley and Mirallas must perform at the highest possible level and not going missing like in large parts of the last season. As for the young players - this could be a golden opportunity they ought to seize.
3. Regarding the board - I am not sure what to think. On one hand, I am happy that apart from Bolasie, we didn't overspend. I don't think that spending for the spending's sake is a good policy. I believe that giving 50 mil euro for an inconsistent player that went missing for a season and a half, 25 million pounds for a Napoli bench player, or 30 million pounds for a terrible mercenary, is just not right. Just imagine what part of a new stadium can we build with all this money. On the other hand, transferwise there is nothing to suggest that we are in a new era. We sold to buy and plenty of our actions were amateurish and naive, culminating in the deadline day, in which we were jumping from player to player like bees in a flower field.
4 Regarding the fans - I can't blame the majority of the fans that feel disappointed. However, I can't understand all this fuss and hysteria that make grown men look like teenage girls at a Justin Bieber concert. Maybe this should be a valuable lesson not to raise our expectations too high and not to be premature. Everton is obviously in such a state in which there is lot to be done on and especially off the field. I am an optimist - overhaul at any level will happen, but gradually. I don't know why people expected us to become the new Galacticos overnight. More over, calling your favourite club a "disgrase" and a "laughing stock" for refusing to pay silly money for a spoilt prima donna is a disgrace itself.
5. Regarding me - I feel very positive for not getting fired for spending countless working hours in the transfer thread this summer :)))

Who I wanted in has nothing to do with the fact that we didn't bring in the amount of players the manager was asking for. I'm not saying it is all doom and gloom because they aren't here, or that we should have spent money for the sake of it. I'm saying the manager clearly established how many he wanted in and they aren't here.

I would have had Hart, Bony or Slimani, and Kone in for a start if you're interested. Any of those could have happened easily, but that is besides the point. We have a whole department dedicated to identifying targets and another dedicated to negotiating deals and for whatever reasons they have failed to bring in players since Bolasie came about 3 weeks ago. This is a lost opportunity once again, we're not in dire straits and the squad is fairly good but it could have been better if we had it together behind the scenes. I'm happy with those we brought in, but disappointed that was all we brought in and that we ended up loaning West Ham's 4th choice striker to be Lukaku's back up.

Window was poor. Expected more if I'm honest.

We are easily 4 players short. Mainly a GK and Striker. (Valencia doesn't count, he's no better than Kone)
