Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has rejected a move to Manchester City. The Premier League big spenders tabled a world record £129m bid. (Private Spanish radio station Cadena Ser)

If true....you can see it coming. Only mercinaries will go to Citeh at the moment, one wanting big payouts.

I think Hughes will just have to go for the good-to-average range players and pay stupid amounts of money for them because I cant see them bagging a "superstar". Robinho was a one off.
Wonder what Joe Hart thinks if this is true? I hate that cocky cuunt!

Casillas is one of my faviourite keepers. The best in the world imo. But hes not even worth £50 million, never mind £129 million.

I think all the cash is going to kill the game.lets be honest how often have you though lazy B and the cash hes on.people will get fed up.:(

You either have to be established as a team or be located in London before the so-called big guns will join. I reckon if City do well over the next couple of seasons, the big names will start to drift there. But it will cost and, frankly, I'd rather not have success if it is attained like that. Better to be Everton or Villa than Chelsea or City.

What they're doing is just paying any amount for anyone. Funniest thing is that most of the top players are at bigger clubs than Citeh will ever be so they wont need the cash, and it'll be a step down for the players.

The only reason why Robinho went to Citeh is that they out-bidded Chelsea at the last minute so Madrid said "go there". He was gonna move anywhere to get out of Real. The players like Messi, Kaka etc all dont want to leave the clubs they're at especially for Man City because who are they?

Hughes will just have to buy some cheeky players like Santa Cruz etc because he'll have no chance of buying big time players. He'll be sacked next year anyway.

It's all getting silly now. But I reckon one day in the not too distant future the game will become more realistic again. If not, then I hope the likes of the big 10 or so all go and [Poor language removed] off and make their own league based in the United Arab Emirates. Or rather, they all become franchises and prostitute themselves around the globe. Anyone fancy Liverpool Calcutta versus Real Madrid Moscow or Manchester United Beijing versus Barcelona New York?

Hahahahhaha, City cant attract any1 decent, for all the money they have got they are still a club that 5 years ago? were playing 2nd division football.

They need an FM ingame editor, increase their prestige.

You say that like £50m is nothing, no one is worth £50m, Casillas? £18-20m tops

Another thing is....those top players Citeh are going for have had all the top teams after them and they, and they clubs, have said "no". So the fact Citeh turn up and throw stupid amounts of cash at them isnt going to make any difference.

Its not like Real Madrid, Barca etc are cash strapped so they'd rather keep their talent than see them off.

The only team I think who have star players and are cash strapped are Valencia. But a player like Villa turned down the [Poor language removed] and a host of other clubs throwing cash around in the summer.

They'll just do what Chelsea did. Spend a shedload of money on second-tier players for a couple of years and then go nuts when their squad is stronger.
