Christian Atsu

Woohoo.

Right I'm happy with the first team now.

I'm a bit worried after preseason with our bench but I would fancy us to give anyone a good game if everyone is avialable.

Can anyone confirm that we have agreed a certain amount of playing time for Atsu?

If so, surely he has to be more likely to start games than McGeady. Hopefully.

Doesnt look like we have an option to buy in the deal - but he didnt really answer it tbh.

Atsu so, what a great kid he sounds, just humble and i like what he has to say. Think he could have a real impact and the fans will take to him immediately

He comes across as a cracking kid, just a shame we're not watching the press conference after him signing a 5 year deal but hey ho.

Players with pace is something we've been craving for years so I'm excited to see what the lad has to offer.

I imagine the Atsu situation will be similar to that of Lukaku. No agreement other than a loan.
I am sure that Lukaku had no intention of joining Everton full time twelve months ago ,it was a stepping stone to something bigger and better.
During the season he gradually realised the stepping stone also was the something bigger and better for him.

If Atsu does well at Everton ,then he may be agreeable to a move..if Chelsea want to sell.

PLayers fall in love with Everton - its what happens.

It would have just been nice to have a figure already in place instead of giving Chelsea another £20M next season

So we've signed a top striker and now we're signing wingers....

That's more like the Everton when I was knee high to a grasshopper.

IT'S ON

Think I just found probably the worst opinion ever on Sky. He's entitled to it, but he's an utter, utter moron.

"I think the premier league needs to change the loan rule, at least between teams in the same division. Maybe they should only be allowed in exceptional circumstances. Everton did very well last season but 2-3 of their key players, including lukaku and barry, weren't even theirs, and that doesn't seem right or fair to me. Nothing personal against Everton but here is another potentially excellent 'free' 1-year signing to bolster what is already a good squad. Loaning out youngsters to lower league clubs is a situation that suits everyone but when a top PL team is loaning in players from other top PL teams I find it a bit of a kop out, too much of an easy option. If they don't have the money to buy players they shouldnt just be allowed to loan them in"

FFS. No game time at Chelsea. Game time at Everton.
Kid has torn up foreign leagues but no premier league experience.
Kid plays and develops at premier league level at Everton.
Chelsea win, Everton win, Atsu wins. If the deal wasn't beneficial for all 3 parties it would never happen.

I was completely taken aback at how often this came up last season. It's such a mind-numbingly weak argument. I want to believe this guy is trolling or something.

Its the something... its called concern. They know we're close to top 4 and loaning players that could potentially tip the balance would cause all sorts of big 4/sky money issues, could even start leading towards us being a 'big club' again, this is unacceptable and goes against everything the FA and Uefa are about.
