I'm not sure mate, I would have thought that as soon as they issue a recall, the contract and buy-out will be terminated completely. It all seems quite messy, with ACN to be factored in, and as Dougie stated, unless we nail it all down, their recall could be used as a handicap :)
Depends on how soon the recall will be. If the recall clause says that he can only be with the club for Another 24-48 hours, he's still our player and therefore we can activate the buyout clause. As I said.. it's all down to how the clauses are written down.

You do realize that happens with almost every loan these days?

No I don't and no it doesn't.

Maybe it does when a major team loans a player to a team in a minor league or sommat, but it most certainly is not an arrangement which clubs of Everton's stature will enter into with a club in the same league.

For goodness sake Bobby won't even be telling his own star permanent players they are "guaranteed" to play X amount of games this season, let alone some boy he has fetched in on loan.

My understanding is that Chelsea want to insert a clause so they can get him back in January if they want him. Is this not what the hold up is?

Depends how specific Chelsea are being with the terms. If they're stipulating things like they can recall him in January then it wouldn't matter one bit if we'd had an option to buy after a years loan, would be ridiculous.

Similarly they can't really demand he plays X amount of games, we're paying you for his services, and you need to loan him out because you've stockpiled young players like Tazos.

deadline day is gonna be mental again i think...
Not really. Martinez loves his wingers and will have a list of options. I think he'll sign one pretty soon. Apart from that, I can only see maybe one more forward b4 deadline day, and the squad will be fine. Nathan Redmond, get it done!

Redmond's decent, but I want a lightning fast forward, gives us another attacking option like the RS ie the 60 yd hoof on the break.

Chelsea have the right to put playing time clauses in their loan deals. He's their player and they want to maximize his value and experience. If Everton won't accept then there are plenty of other teams who will.

That being said, even if a playing time clause is put into the loan deal for Atsu, Roberto isn't being forced to play the kid. If he doesn't feel like Atsu is deserving of that playing time, he shouldn't play him. In that case, Chelsea can take him back in January and we'll look for someone who deserves the playing time.

This isn't a big deal at all. They just have to iron out the specifics of the clause to everyone's satisfaction.
