Christian Atsu

Could it be that Chelsea are coming up with comments for the journos to cover their backs so that they do not appear to be unreasonabl? Said in an earlier post why don't Chelsea give him more game time instead of old man Drogba?

In truth it could be anything.

Atsu isn't a central striker he plays wide, is of limited height and suggesting he would be an alternative to Drogba I guess is not even a remote consideration

I think we are all unsure as to the sense or likely outcome of this loan but he is Chelsea's player and in the roles were reversed would Everton supporters expect Chelsea to be calling the shots?

If they are going to sell him to us after the loan, why would they be worried about his game time? Unless we don't play him, and then don't pay for him. If he's good enough neither will be a problem.

Still think it might be down to the potential transferfee at the end of the loan/season. If he improves Chelsea would want more money than he's valued at at the moment, while we probably wouldn't want to pay more for him than he's currently worth.

It may be that a recall clause may complicate/negate a buy-clause, causing us to worry that if we got him playing well in the first half of the season, they could then recall in order not to sell, perhaps...

Not sure there's a buyout clause but I'd thought the rest myself. Everton doing well and challenging the top 4 positions could be a threat to them now their more aware of us and our capabilities, if they were in trouble they'd want to use any means possible to ease the pressure on themselves at that point.

A recall clause due to too little playtime have to be fairly exact in the wording. How much is too little? Is playing every other game too little? Does time against lower League clubs in the cups count? is it going to be a set percentage of the amount of minutes Everton playes? Does he have to play in Europe or will he be prohibited to play there? If he's fatigued and need to rest will the missed minutes/games there count toward the total or will that be acceptable and those games be discounted?

But if we have a buyclause in the loancontract in addition to a recall clause, the buyclause would mean that we could buy him when Chelsea asks for him to return. The buyclause doesn't have to state that we can buy him at the end of the season, just word it so that we can buy him for that prize before the season ends. So if he playes well in the first half of the season and Chelsea is starting to indicate that they would want him back, just offer them the transferfee and buy him in January. Since it's in the contract, they can't refuse.

I'm not sure mate, I would have thought that as soon as they issue a recall, the contract and buy-out will be terminated completely. It all seems quite messy, with ACN to be factored in, and as Dougie stated, unless we nail it all down, their recall could be used as a handicap :)

Chelsea don't want the same thing happening as what happened with Moses. I'm sure last season has really hit his price so It's totally understandable, it just might not be something we can agree to.

Loanees shouldn't have that much control at all. Martinez has always said the player has got to be the right player for the club, and this guys ego seems to not fit in at all. We have a great bunch of welcoming players, Besic seems to have slotted right in, and looks comfortable with the players on a personal level whilst moving to a new country (compared to Ashley Cole - gone to Roma and looks like he's hardly spoke to anyone on a personal level).

If this guy is demanding to play, then he's not the right fit for Everton. Martinez decides who plays, not JS. I can see this deal being called off, and that's a good thing.

Martinez went to Spain and came back with a unknown player from Barcelona who had a great season. I can see him doing the same.

I thought Barcelona came up with a good idea over the Deulafue signing lady year.

The more he played the less we had to pay them.
