Christian Atsu

watched him do it and it was the little slip as he stopped that caused it. I would say from atsu's reaction that it didn't look like a grade 3 to me but we will wait to see what the club say. If it is a 3 maybe mid feb return, not sure about surgery on hammy's usually lot's of physio.
Good point, he walked off and most of our bad hamstring injuries (Mirallas and Deulofeu for example) had to be stretchered off.

If Atsu is out for between three and six months I will be extremely surprised. Maybe, I will even go as far as utterly flabbergasted.

As others mentioned, he appeared to simply over stretch. He didn't go down writhing in pain, but rather seemed to slowly crouch or stretch out.

Nor was he stretchered off, rather he was able to walk pretty much unaided down the tunnel. I am more inclined to believe it is a slight pull.

Few weeks at most. Hopefully he comes back and can make more of an influence as he has to date, although I do doubt it.

I worry that Martinez doesn't want know what he's doing regarding wingers. Didn't play del boy as much as he should have imo and hasn't given this lad much of a chance this season.

Add that to his reluctance to play 2 natural wide men this season I hope his idea of playing 1 winger and 2 CAM's doesn't stay

Bobby doesnt really use wingers though; never has done. His wingers are his two full backs when the DM sits alongside the other two centre halves.

Good news for the lad if true

Everton winger, Christian Atsu will be fit to play for Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with news he will be out for just 10 days with his latest injury setback. The 22-year-old limped off Everton’s Europa League defeat to Kuban Krasnodar last Thursday with a suspected hamstring injury. The injury threatened to keep the former FC Porto man out of next January’s Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Equatorial Guinea.

It is however expected that the winger will only be out for 10 days following a thorough medical checkup conducted on Sunday. Atsu is expected to resume light training by the weekend and will begin to work with the ball early next week in his gradual return to full fitness.

The Ghana international is expected to play for Everton during their busy Christman schedule before jetting off to join the Black Stars for their pre-2015 AFCON camp once he is named in the squad. The latest news will come as a relief to Ghana coach Avram Grant who is already forced to be without influential midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah also through injury. Ghana is drawn in a tough AFCON group which will be based in Mongomo and will be facing Senegal, Algeria and South Africa.

AFCON brilliant!

I know everyone will disagree but I said the same about Besic - how have we came to the conclusion this lad 'isn't good enough'? I also said the same about Barkley & Deulofeu in the past.

Why are we so quick to judge YOUNG players on a handful of appearances. This lad has ability for all to see, I hope he gets a chance before the end of the season to have a fair crack at it. Man we don't help our players confidence wise do we? Feel for the lad being injured again too.
