Chris Woods

Ye gods...

When Tim is 'on', he is unbeatable. OK, he makes the occasional gaffe, but name a keeper who doesn't?

Blaming Chris Woods is like blaming Parry, Ayres, Comoli etc.

Seen him warming the goalies up he just boots a 2 or 3 balls at them to catch he should boot 4 or 5 balls at them then they will be ace.

Prefer the legend Southall of course, buts that is my heart ruling my head. Can't be blaming the backroom staff especially Chris Woods. Love the story from midnite mike.

I will never hear a bad word said against Chris Woods as he provided me with one of my funniest football memories. Me and a RS pal of mine were over in Liverpool one weekend back in 2000 and as the blues were playing I dragged him to the Everton Middlesborough game against his will. We sat in the Lower Gladys about 10 rows back. Woods was taking the goalkeeping warm up and was volleying balls at Simonson to catch. For some reason Simonson walked away for a split second and Woods continued to volley a ball hitting my pal full whack in the face. It was one of those that he wasnt expecting, it made a cracking sound and his head flew right back like he was taking a punch from Tyson. Needless to say I was pissing myself and my pal has never set foot near Goodison again!

Did he walk over and apologise after, because around this time a few of us used to go and stand near the warm up, but we had a running joke to move away from the keepers, Simonsen, Gerrard, because they were atrocious and we would get hit! Sure I remember this, also my favourite memory is a kopite getting hit in the Anfield road around 2007/08 during a warm up. It was the biggest cheer of the day from the travelling blues!

I think the guy who drives the bus is quite poor. he doesn't always anticipate vehicles coming out of side roads and has been known to drive above the legal limit on occasion. Plus the music he puts over the speakers, Simon and Garfunkel ffs !!No wonder we were beaten at West Brom. Anyone agree ?

john ruddy.

I don't believe for a second a ex-keeper the quality of woods can't train keepers sorry that's my opinion. Why are you having a pop at a GK coach anyway? how very bizarre.

I think it's unfair to criticise the bus driver mate, after all, his bad driving skills could simply be bad habits picked up from observing his drunken father's driving whilst growing up, i doubt he knows he is doing wrong to be honest. That said we wouldn't even have this problem if alcohol wasn't so easy to get a hold of, i'd say if we are to lay blame we need to go back to the exact moment the universe was created. From there we can ensure that alcohol is never invented, the coach driver's father works on his driving ability instead of ignoring the issue, that way the coach driver will learn properly how to commandeer a vehicle, Chris Wood's will spend less time worrying about crashing and spend more time working out plans for our goalkeepers and we can ensure that Tim Howard's star fish style never ever happens at Goodison again.

He only put Bridge Over Troubled Water on after the game mate.

Is there any premiership side who have someone home-grown keeping nets?

You get good at something by learning from your mistakes - and no manager of a decent side wants a goalkeeper going through this learning process in their first eleven. Starting in goal for pretty much any prem side you need to be close to the finished article.
