If he was good enough at his age he'd be in the first team - see John Stones.
Established international players like Besic are not guaranteed starts but these kids think they are?
If he wants to leave, bye....see you in the Milk cup in a few years. Very few released Everton players go onto better things... Ain't that right Mr Gosling
Gosling was a crock totally different!

It may have escaped your attention but Everton is a scouse team.

Now bow down.

I have seen a few questions about Long, questioning why hasn't he been offered a contract earlier.

The blunt reality is, he is not that good. By that I don't mean he's rubbish and we should sell him, but he is not considered a prized asset. The club are quite ambivalent on him, happy if he goes happy if he stays for another year.

He is a lad with some promise but there's no guarantees he'd make it into our first 11. I should imagine the delay in him signing a Contract is him taking time to think over his options. He is at a very important stage of his development. If a Burnle/Blackburn/Leeds offer him the chance of regular football that may be something he'd want to consider. We can't really compete with that.

I hope he signs for us but we'll have to see how it plays out.

Why, has he been agitating in social media to get his manager sacked as well?

Ah I see, I didn't realise there would be qualifiers

I thought you'd have the same attitude with every young player wanting to leave the club for more playing minutes, but apparently it's only the ones you don't like who get accused of treachery and collusion

My feelings are the same as they were with Garbutt btw

Can't blame him for wanting to play more. Hopefully we sign him up and give him a loan spell. If not, good luck to him

It's so far removed from the Garbutt situation it's untrue.

1/ Garbutt was getting a lot of first team playing time; Long isn't.
2/ Garbutt was getting a big contract stuck under his nose; Long isn't
3/ Garbutt faces stiff competition for a place in the team with two better in front of him; Long has Lukaku to deputise for but never gets a sniff.

It's entirely reasonable for Long to say he wants away when he's been given no indication he's a major part of the manager's plans.

Anyway, why are you still obsessing about Garbutt? That's been put to rest now and he can concentrate on improving his game on loan in the Championship.

Top post mate. I've only seen him a handful of times but I think you are spot on about Everton being very relaxed and not too concerned of he leaves in search of first team football.
