Owen would of struggled coming through in today's PL IMO. Hate to admit but Owen was exceptional in his early years but in a world where 4-4-2 is obsolete and big lone strikers are the prefered choice, I'm not sure he could have had the same impact today.
Saw a program on Owen a while back. He was used by RS too young because of his speed. Failed to look after him physically or to develop other parts of his game. This came back to haunt him later in his career.

5 career goals in 14 career games at league 1 & championship level is a good return for a young kid.

Think he will probably end up like someone like Jevons. Good goal scoring ability but maybe missing that little extra something to make it in the big leagues.

This is not me righting him off, just my opinion

Also should be noted that he was a sub for 10 of those 12 games he played for Brentford. He started 2 games and scored 3 goals. I think he's got potential, if he could get a season long loan in the Championship where he is actually starting games then we could get a better idea of what level he will be able to play at.

Why do people write off players if theyve not made the break through by the time there 17 and always compare them to rooneys. Patience, they might make it at 16 or might make it at 21, they have a good development plan at us let them get on with it

Some don't even really 'make it' til their mid-20s, and that can go for absolutely top-class players too.

the same way they ruined torres' career and would have f*cked suarez if he was still there, the same that will happen to sterling if he doesn't get out of there. they get a good player and just play them and play them and play them. seeing as they seem to be a club that gets away with not too many long spells of injuries to their best players it's a bad combination. sturridge has always had injury worries, but liverpool have already overplayed him so much in his short stint that he seems knackered. they spend all that money but can never buy good enough squad players to come in and share the burden,

we need to get better strikers so we don't overplay lukaku as much as we do. having to have him play with a broken toe for months was not ideal - kone's injuries have not helped martinez' cause.

What's the current story with Conor McAleny. Seemed to do well on loan last year. Back out on loan or challenging for game time?

He didn't do that well on loan tbh, scored a few goals but for an almost 23 year old he really needs to be playing games for us if he's ever going to make it. I think he'll get another chance during pre-season but I wouldn't be surprised if we sell him before the season starts.

Everton: Chris Long
The Huyton-born striker will view Everton’s pre-season as a second chance to showcase his first-team claims to the manager, Roberto Martínez, having impressed last summer only to find opportunities nonexistent once the Premier League campaign began. Long scored a fine goal against the Bundesliga newcomers Paderborn last August but senior outings for the 20-year-old were confined to a late substitute’s appearance in a Europa League dead-rubber against Krasnodar. He joined Brentford on loan in January where, despite injury interruptions, he scored four goals in 10 appearances as the Championship side reached the play-offs. A quick forward and composed finisher, Long has been with Everton since the age of five and represented England from under-16 to under-20 level. With Martínez’s striking options currently limited to Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Koné, there is an opening for Long should he deliver. AH
