Mustafi.

The club is run by absolute morons. It's an utter joke.

People keep mentioning Mustafi, he left to seek first team football, we didnt get rid of him for not being good enough, he wasnt willing to sit and bide his time and Moyes felt he wasnt good enough to get a place over I think Yobo, Lescott and Jagielka, just 1 of them innit.

Jose Baxter ironically did the same thing.

The fact that his contract expired a week ago maybe means hes not as good as some might think.

It said we'd offered him a new contract on the retained and released list a few weeks ago. The Echo said he's close to signing a new contract so I imagine we'll release it any day now.

Long could be a good PL striker. He needs to be more demanding of his team mates though and dictate more what he wants from them. He's not very vocal. Shrinking violet might be too harsh a label, but he certainly needs to impose himself more.

He is only learning his trade though and imposing himself will come in time and with confidence.

Rooney had all his confidence by the time of his debut at 16. Long should by now be more imposing amongst his peers.
Rooney was a freak (still is!).
Not many players who were built like him or could play like him at 16.
Most players need nurturing along at this stage. We have a whole bunch in this category (McAleny, Garbutt, Browning, Galloway). If we get it right we could have a very strong (and very young squad) when you combine with existing young first team players.

.....Michael Owen wasn't built like Rooney but came through at a very early age. It's so difficult for young forwards because the skill set in the top flight is such a major step up. Very few come through, Anichebe and Vaughan in recent times but both were unable to maintain a place. My fear for Long is that there will already be youngsters (Henen) leapfrogging him in the pecking order and it will be difficult for him to make his mark here.

Why do people write off players if theyve not made the break through by the time there 17 and always compare them to rooneys. Patience, they might make it at 16 or might make it at 21, they have a good development plan at us let them get on with it

Comparing every youngster we have to Rooney is proper boring now, and its wrong to do.

Rooney was a one off, we wont develop a player like him ever again, im telling you that right now. Ross is the closest, but he still isnt Rooney.

The Premier League has changed massively over the last ten years and ultimately made it difficult to bring young players in. As i say and some others have said, Rooney was a one off, a freak of nature you could say.

The obsession our fans have comparing players like Barkley, Long, Ledson etc to him needs to stop.
