Surely you wouldn't get the R32 tho mate.
 

Was thinking the same thing myself, Brownie. R32's are the sought after ones.
 

Was the budget 1000-5000 squid as in pounds over here?

If so deffo worth going a level up and getting a mk4 from '02 onwards, can get them for about 4000 over here.
 
Yeah, I have about 8 grand Aussie.

I'm found a semi decent Golf the other day. I need some wheels and I'm being held to ransom by a car dealer who took my deposit of $500, didn't fulfill any of the promises he made about fixing the slight imperfections on the car and now won't return the deposit.

Makes me really mad that does.
