Mate who's a Southampton season ticket fan really rates him from his time there. Reckons Russell Martin didn't use him nearly enough due to Martin's obsession with possession play.

In my mate's words "it breaks my heart seeing such a wonderful player slumming it at Everton."

I'd take that recco and sign him on a permanent deal!

Think he’s talking about McNeil, I’m not a big fan to be honest, he’s had spells when he’s doing ok, but plenty of poor ones too. His last 4 performances before his injury, he was shocking, his stats definitely didn’t tell the whole story. Going on to alcaraz and if we sign him and I know we need a squad and options, but would that be ndiaye on the left for a while then ?? Because we need a right winger as well in the summer.
McNeil/ndaiye left
Ndaiye/Alcaraz/doucoure 10
New right winger and a loan right winger
Gana, garner Tim, doucoure and a new starting C/mid for midfield
New striker Delap??
And 2 new full backs
Sorted

Its fine if people don't rate him but he is statistically one of our best players and I disagree with a lot of the complaints about him. He has contributed to one goal in close to every other game. 2.5 key passes per game. If people are going to make the argument that Dyche was holding everyone back and made everyone look terrible, then you have to give McNeil that benefit of a doubt when he returns under Moyes.

Could become a Tim Cahill type player for us he looked to enjoy himself - hus frustration f the ball not dropping to him late on was the ball not dropping hus way by a save from Betos 1on 1 as no way Beto could have squared it to him - two defender's in the way - luckily it bounced away from him !
I’m worried. I’ve been thinking the same as Joey….the Tim Cahill bit. If he turns out a quarter as good as TC we’re in for a treat.

Certainly got something about him. He's got the work rate to go with quality on the ball which is exactly what we need and he's still only a young lad. He's a rough diamond at the moment.

He'll inevitably lose the ball (whether that be in possession or into touch) because he tries the high risk/high reward turns/passes/shots but he's a potential match winner.

15mill euros looks a snip for a player of his mould.

The fast feet and ability to get the shot off from the edge of the box was nice to see. The shot missed like but his first instinct was to shoot. If we can keep Gana from shooting with Alcaraz in the side then my soul will remain intact.

Yeah it's a shame he couldn't quite wrap his foot around it to get it into the bottom corner. If we can get Alcaraz and McNeill on the pitch at the same time we have a significant goal threat from distance which will make opposing defenses think twice of just camping on the edge of the box and not allowing any space. It will cause defenders to have to jump from position to get blocks in which creates pockets of space.

Maybe
Again a lot of the chance are set pieces, he takes every corner and free kick, and yes he’s good at them, but open play he’s not so good, slow and one footed. He wouldn’t get in over ndaiye for me and he’s not even a left winger
