Change Penalty Taker?

Still remember that Le Tissier miss. Never mind he slotted the rebound. He missed that penno! Reputation forever tarnished.

On the face of it Leighton is boss at penalties - 13 out of 14 slotted.

He missed against Man Ud and cost us a point. Todays pen was utter tripe that should have been saved. Have a trawl though youtube or your old season review DVDs, I found at least 3 more that were as gash as todays. He rarely hits a sweet penalty right in the corner. Maybe he does an ace "with the eyes" thing that fools the goalie, or maybe researches whch way the keepr usually dives ro something I just dont have confidence in him at the moment.

We have loads of players that take a good pen so is it time to move aside?

I love Baines but I think he has ridden his luck and it will bite us again soon.

Fair point, well made, he doesn't tuck them all away safely so maybe he's just a bit lucky ?
If so, don't knock it, just accept it.

If he tucks the next one away, then his confidence will be back. I'd deal with it then, rather than change it now.

Bit lucky today but it's not a coincidence that he has an amazing record. Often blasts them into the best place, but more often than not places it right in the corner.

He missed against United, and perhaps was a bit nervous before this one as he'd lost his immaculate record. I have no doubt he'll bury the next too.

Also there was a delay in taking the penno as the Sunderland players inexplicably tried to argue with the officials to make them change their mind and deny what was a clear penno.

I always think the longer the delay the more nervous the penalty taker becomes.

There was a lot of time and gamesmanship going on after the penalty was awarded, Baines held his nerve after missing his first penalty for us a few weeks ago and got us back into the game, he's got to be allowed to carry on.
