Think players just choose to play for whichever country is better,if they are good enough and eligible.Or play at whatever standard they feel they`ll get a game. For example Anichebe wouldn`t get in the England squad and he prob knows it so he chooses to play for Nigeria. But if he was better i think he would choose to play for England. Seems you only Have to fart in a country and your eligible to play for it, assuming your good enough.

It's worse in other sports. I mean Henry Paul, Lesley Vainikolo and Shontayne Hape all played rugby league for New Zealand, then crossed codes and played rugby union for England. Makes a mockery of things.

I think it should be a straight question of what was the first passport a player held.......and stick to it

Surely Leon Osman would have had more chance of playing for Cyprus and Turkey than England though? I think each player is different in terms of their views and their individual situation.

Cricket is pretty bad for it, too. And Lennox Lewis just wasn't british. Not to mention Zola Budd and all the eastern european defectors like Navratilova.

To be fair I can understand Navratilova as it can't have been much fun living in communist times. Think she was also kinda disowned by the Czech state because they thought she was too Americanised.

Sports big business now. How the fans of the sport, who take a great deal of pride from thier countries achievements, feel doesn't really matter.

Cricket & Rugby fans genuinely don't seem bothered at all. It always tempers any pride I feel.

Crossing over from the mens game to the womens game was a bit much though wasn't it?

If New Zealand didn't poach the Pacific Islanders we'd have a ****e rugby team, so I'm comfortable with poaching players.

You also nicked Ken Armstrong from us. One of very few players to represent both england and another country.

Another being Jackie Sewell, who was a regular for england but 'defected' when Zambia became independant.

Half the football team are probably English, and the League team is either Islanders or Australians. The cricket team is full of saffas.
