They seem to take a lot of young lads, who`ve been let go by us, the RS and Man U, as rough diamonds and develop them.

I was speaking to a lad I know who`s son has just gone there after being let go by Man U at sixteen.

The way he was telling it, it makes good business sense from their prospective - pick up boys at 16, who`ve already been in Premier League academies, play them in the U23`s and either sell them on or retain them for the team. Apparently Blackburn offer a similar model.

He said after his lad being at Man U since the age of six, it`s like a breath of fresh for both him and his lad. Much more emphasis on development and much less rush to be the finished article as quickly as possible.
