Champions League revamp

....I agree, there has to be sanctions. This isn’t going away, it’ll return with the same actors but a different iteration. Sanctions might hopit the fans and players but it hits the owners if a points deduction impacts them qualifying for Europe.

yep they should all get a massive points deduction. Clubs down the bottom of the table have been given them multiple times over the years. often resulting in relegation, why shouldn't the clubs at the top get one?

And then we should turn our attention to the huge problem that the Super League has distracted everyone from, the original topic of this thread - the rancid Champions League reform. Infact the Champions League itself.

Yes. I'll be frank, and there will be some good and bad in this, but I try to call it as I see it, but I don't think it's dead. I also don't think there's much charge of punishment unfortunately.

If United/Liverpool/Arsenal haven't resigned by early this morning, there's everychance they try and front it out.

The good news is, with City and Chelsea back, it's easy to just bin them off now.
Hi Frank

I hope he keeps talking until all the legislation we need to prevent a recurrence is firmly in place.
Initially, this was my thinking. But the moment you put that legislation in place, the 6 will start looking for loopholes to circumvent the issue.
Think the only way to stop this, is for the punishment to be so apocalyptically bad, it'll scare them out of thinking about it again.

I’m all up for apocalyptic association punishment, too. This needs attacking from as many angles as possible.

I don't buy that the Super Sly Six and the Spanish teams are in financial dire straights, we have FFP which has a sole purpose to stop clubs over-extending their finances hey lads. Lads... Lads... ??

One of the multitude of fundamental flaws of FFP is that it only stops clubs from over-extending their finances if revenues either stay level or go up year-over-year.

As any long-time real estate developer could tell you, if you overleverage during a boom there are consequences when the music stops.

Breaking news of a social media blackout in light of abuse of players online. Worthy as it is, Sky are now all over it. Convenient timing by way of a distraction away from the ESL issue and prospective punishment of those involved. As they brazen it out..

Been thinking about this and I’m thinking the PL will wait till the season over before sanctions, if u give a euro ban today with 4 teams still in it

These pundits are thick as ....
Any point deduction or euro ban will hurt the fans.. says shearer.... Give them big fines....Err Alan who do you think will be paying those fine? As match ticket prizes go up
