How can a competition that basically replaces the Champions League, not be a direct threat to the national leagues?

I'm no fan of UEFA or the new reforms and the CL can get stale (but that's from too many teams qualifying IMO). But the draw of it, the possibility that if you finish 4th you can get to play these teams and compete, is what it's about.

Because as much as they've tried to make it a closed-shop at the top in England, they haven't managed it yet.

Our expectations are already hugely managed downwards. Might get the chance to attempt to qualify to play in another competition we will never win, after finishing 4th in a competition we'll never win isn't a truly competitive sport

Im as angry with the other 14 Everton included as I am the scandalous six.

We've had years to call out the hypocrisy but we never do. Same when that lot were setting fire to the Liver Building not a peep said.

We did call it out, problem is too many want to play nice, the clubs just happy to be in the league

I had been very much admiring city this season and now this has left a very sour taste in the mouth.

Yeah. I've always had a soft spot for them so haven't minded their sudden good fortune. But after this they can rot in Hell.

Their arguement (Real, Barca, Liverpool, Italian clubs & Man United) would be that they cant when they are trying to compete with Arab states and Oligarchs.

It's hypocrisy of the highest order, but that's their party line & the catalyst for Superleague in many ways

Why repeat it then? As yet City haven't outperformed them in the CL. This is just about preserving their place at the top table while throwing scraps to the peasants. We already suffer from a league within a league, the only interest I take in the Big 6 is who can stop Liverpool or Utd. from winning any more trophies, but eventually I will feel that way about City too. I would not be unhappy to see the back of them, so long as the rest of the pyramid can be maintained.
