Just following on from the Duffy thread where we were commenting on the variety of centre backs we have coming through.

Swblue mentioned that;
Duffy-Power
Browning-Pace
Stones-Passing

Stones is already part of the main squad and Martibez has commented a couple of weeks ago thqt Browning will be coming through soon into the first team squad. Regarding Duffy it's a tricky situation because we don't know how Martinez feels about him.

I'd really like to know peoples opinions on;

1- What makes Stones stand out as a future star?

2- I thought Browning was a right back, other than being fast is he any good?

3- I think Distin is our only left sided centre back. When he's been out then Jagielka moves across to the left or Alcaraz is brought in as a replacement. Is there anyone else who could play the left sided centre back position almost naturally (alongside stones)?

4- Alcaraz and Distin only have another season with us after this one, how would you feel going into a season with Stones/Duffy/Browning/Jagielka ?

Been In (and still am in) hospital for 6weeks...just recovering at the moment after over 10operations. Another week or so and I'll be out.

Why not answer the post--afraid of being vaulted in the future? I dont think we have had this many players threaten to come through since Ball/Dunne etc etc.

I think if we are going to start a season with 3 youngsters in the CB positions, we really need to be able to score 2 or 3 goals every week.
If they make a mistake and we lose 1-0, it could really harm their confidence and development. However if they make the same mistake and we win 3-1, no big deal, work on it in training.

Stones will make it, Duffy won't. I've never seen Browning play so can't judge

You should know better than me to commit to an actual opinion by now mate. Sack saying something online that someone can vault in year's time to make me look a bigger tit.

Pretty mental eh? Didnt realise how bad it was at first and thought a week in hospital-then my girlfriend googled the name they gave her for the ilness and saw it was life threatening...

7operations I was knocked out for so no worries......then last 3 ive had in my room in the hospital not the Operating Room-- one with no pajn killers....second with pain killer which felt like I was on fire from the inside which felt extremely realistic....then third yesterday which was fine, probably because im healing.

I had one eye on Utd as well because they have Evans/Jones/Smalling when Ferdinand/Vidic arent fit/available. Jones and Smalling were 19/20 when they first started getting games in the premiership.

I undersrand perhaps duffy doesnt play like Ronald Koeman but when he played during our injury crisis he was MOTM every game or almost every game. So I think he can handle the league.

I think our defence are relying on the two in front too much this season and thats why especially in recent weeks they have been caught in lazy positions, often leading to a vital goal.

I think the future could well be Stones and Duffy.
