Purely money related. He knows he won't get another contract anywhere near what we are paying, so milking it for all he can.

Best we could hope would be to loan him out. Not sure who would take him, though maybe Woy at Watford may be tempted as am sure he loaned him at Palace...

Guess so - even if the wages were lower you'd have thought he'd be looking for a longer term contract so he is better off overall - out of contract here in summer, isn't he ?

The problem with that is he’s already seen first hand how gash he is, so I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Yeah you are probably right. I'm pretty sure If he heads a ball, his new hair might fall off so makes sense to play it safe and run his contract down.
 
Whatever his qualities as a player or lack of them, this is one of the worst examples of our disastrous signing policy, as well as a classic case of (all) clubs paying vast salaries on long contracts to people who are not good enough to perform at their jobs. Surely someone can devise a contract clause which gives the employers an escape hatch in extreme case such as this?
