I thought he was decent finisher but was starved of service.

Doesn’t make any space for himself because he’s so incredibly slow though. He can’t get ahead of his man.

I think that’s how we have changed as a team. Start of last season we had no pace and he would have been the focal point of the attack. Now as you say the wide players get ahead of him as they are quick and he just can’t keep up.

Confidence and systems/tactics played a huge role in Tosun ultimately being unable to establish himself properly imo. He's by no means a waste of space, and a run of games last season where he bagged 4/5 with clinical precision when we really needed it showed otherwise - no worse than the Mitrovics or Rondons of this league.
That said, he doesn't possess sufficient pace to run in behind, nor the physicality required to be the hold-up striker, and we should be looking at a higher calibre player with more to his game to lead the line moving forward - recoup ~12-14m and move on..

Think it's very obviously a negotiating tactic to ensure he leaves for the best amount we can achieve.

Its interesting that both Silva and Brands have come out with these sorts of comments about not wanting to sell or buy next month.

Hopefully posturing as we need 1-2 coming in and realistically 3-4 going out.
