2017/18 Cenk Tosun

Iran finished 7 points clear of South Korea in WC qualifying built on a solid defence. Of course they are not a benchmark but if you look at the goals you see Tosun can finish 15-20 yards out as well as the headers and short range stuff we’ve seen so far. He is not top class but he can be a solid, reliable 10-15 goal guy. We need at least one more option at that level who can lead the line/play as a true CF like Tosun & provide depth/competition. The lad we were linked with a while back, Willian Jose, fits the bill exactly but is in demand. Walcott, DCL and Lookman (fingers crossed) give us pace/options.

I think Cenk has the makings of a good striker at this level, Walcott can also play through the middle if needed and Niasse is an option from the bench. While it would be nice to sign a striker with a bit of pace, there are so many other positions that need addressing first.

Cenk will get us 15 next season, we just need another top striker to join him. Then loan out DCL and use Niasse as backup.

Cenk is a natural goalscorer who plays best off another striker - just like Lukaku did off Kone (what ever his limitations) - he does not have the attributes to play on his own up front - again, a bit like Lukaku.

I'd play him alongside Niasse or his upgrade in our home games and bring him on if we're chasing a goal for away games. Trouble is managers don't want to concede space/possession in midfield hence the trend to play a lone striker.

Gun player and no reason why he cant be our most important player for the next 5 years. Will be first choice striker next season with Niasse and DCL as support and help from Walcott where necessary.

Isn't easy to find top strikers, but for 27m they seem to have finally nailed a transfer.

Two finishes at international level is not to be scoffed at. I like the look of him on evidence to date. Would be interested to know who identified him, it clearly wasn't allardyce as he didn't rate him for several weeks initially.
