2017/18 Cenk Tosun

Think it's a tad unfair to judge any of our forwards too harshly this year, given the service and support they've received has been virtually zilch. Even Drogba would have struggled badly the way we've set up this season.

Personally I've seen glimpses of a footballer in there, and I think he'd be an asset in a team that had more control during a match. Some nice finishes from him too. I'd like to see him with a better manager and better players around him.

I don't think anybody has really gone overboard about him. I think most just want him to be a success, simply because we've had so many failures lately.
Oh I agree give him time and hopefully we're a bit more attack minded next season and actually create chances. Was merely pointing out the double standards of some of the fanbase who are sucking on cenks arsehole yet constantly put Niasse down despite Niasse having so much more of an impact when he plays

We should be amazed any of our strikers scored goals. Goals to minutes and shots on target ratio would help an argument either way rather than just pointless rhetoric. Pretty sure we're probably still around the 19th place we were for chances created as nothing has changed since that table was posted. Usually I'd go trawling stats sites but I cba.

I think you're being a bit oversensitive of criticism to your prince Sagey. He's surpassed everyone's expectations this season and most of us value the contribution that he makes. If you've been on Zats "who get's a reprieve" thread, practically everybody who's posted a list have said they want him to stay, included Zat himself.

I don't think I've ever seen such a turnaround in fans perception of an Everton player, well not such a quick turnaround anyway. Ratters managed to turn himself from one of our worst ever left backs to possibly our best ever centre back.

So far what I think we've seen from Tosun is:

Hes got a good first touch and holds the ball up well. Hes not that fast, fast enough to be average but not enough to get in behind. He strikes the ball very well. He also passes the ball really well and seems to really want someone else to play off of to pass the ball through a defense, and Tosun is capable of doing it, but we dont have a midfielder who is as well. Hes not got the workrate of Niasse. But then again who does?

All in all, if you want Niasse, we have him, if you want someone who lacks 2 of the 3 main qualities of Niasse, but is a good team player who strikes the ball very well, we have him too. His strike rate was decent, especially considering how few chances he got to strike the ball. Id love to see him in a side without Bolaise, with Lookman in the middle, and a 2nd center mid who actually pushes forward with some semblence of an attacking lineup.

Its ironic that Allardyce wanted him, because hes a forward best suited to team play and thats the last thing BFS wanted.

agreed, I think he would thrive and get you 15-20 quite easily being flanked by lookman/Walcott and someone like Siggy as the creative MID behind, as long as we shore up the defence and rest of midfield and get a manager who would press for that style of play we probably wouldn't actually need wholesale changes

Pushing our whole team 20 yds forward would transform the way any of our strikers play. They are so isolated, we even defended on our penalty area against southapton who's striker Austin has cheese strings for kneecaps.

I like them both, as they both bring different things into play.

Any manager with half a brain would recognise this and use it to good effect.

Unfortunately ......................

Give him chances he will score.

But we don’t do that. In fact it’s pointless us even having a striker really.
Like him or not, if we end up with Silva who got Niasse banging them in for him i would be confident that he would do the same for Cenk.

turned like a carthorse yesterday Niasse looked the better forward imo!

I agree. Niasse is looking the better striker because he works so hard and makes things happen through tenacity. Just think Tosun is not coping with the way we are set up and Niasse is more suited to it. Tosun will thrive on service but at the moment it is basically non-existent. Better quality from the midfield will see Tosun start notching up his goal tally I reckon.

Got to say that Niasse showed supreme skill to score that goal against West Ham...it was a cracker.

I thought he was going to be Uber gash, like a fish out of water but hes quite clinical in front of goal, that Huddersfield goal was really underrated.

And he’s been doing this while being isolated by the fat sloths tactics
