Confirmed Signing Cenk Tosun

Much like Liverpool getting the Van Djik deal sorted on day 1 (well in there case long before the window reopened) we really needed to get this deal done before the cup game on Friday.... Even if he signed tonight, can't see how he can be available for Friday now....
Maybe if we were about to sell our best player for about 130m we might have done.

Really should be avoiding this deal. We've got enough to get through to the end of season, plus we could get a few loan deals if we wanted. Makes no sense to be spending big money when we've got a stop gap manager and nobody knows what style of play the new manager will want to play.

Why should we avoid the deal ?... because the player is not good enough ?... but, unless you are prepared to spend many tens of millions of pounds then every striker is a risk.

The very fact that Sam has been given access to writing cheques of this size should already have made it clear to you he is not a stop gap manager.

We knew for 2 years we were selling our best player mate..
And never replaced him.
It's appalling that we're actually having to delve into a transfer which in essence may be relatively expensive for an unknown quantity.

The whole Giroud affair simply doesn't wash with me because, as you rightly mentioned, we knew Rom was leaving so had ample time to prepare.

Yet here we are in Jan, working away to attempt to persuade Tosun to join the ranks amongst Niasse, Sandro and DCL - it's not entirely inspiring.

Of course I hope he proves to be the player we need by providing necessary goals, but the whole situation once again wreaks of desperation.

He might be good??.........just a possibility, any chance we could give him a little bit of hope before he's actually put a shirt on?.................just a thought

Depends how you look at it.... I don't see Tosun as a replacement for Lukaku (and hopefully neither does the Board).... He's a replacement for Kone.... We also need to replace Valencia while we're at it...

The Board's neglect to buy strikers last summer was truly unbelievable....

A lot of fans are not bothered if we have a ‘stop gap’ manager or a dead season and just want a new player in for the sake of it, risking a fair chunk of money for no reward in terms of league position this year makes no sense to me at all.

I’d be more than happy with us just getting a capable loan striker and waiting until we have offloaded the dead wood before possibly adding more, this shambles of a club needs sorting out first.

To be honest , I don’t think Everton’s gameplay suitable for tosun , he is not quick he is short and as all of you said Turkish league is no premier league , I remember pulling my hair out in so many games because of him , who ever pays him £25m is mad , believe me when I say this a lot of Turkish fans are happy he is going there are no two ways about it , if he doesn’t go he won’t be worth more than 10m at the end of the season , for example besiktas played against akhisar which is equalent to Southampton we did a recor breaking number of crosses (48) the game finished 0-0 To sum played second half , you will be pulling your hair out , you think niasse is bad , whatching you game against Man U couple of days ago , Cenk is not the goal machine as you think he is , I don’t see him scoring many goal on epl , that my honest opinion , I wish him all the best tho , imagine this we had aboubakar and we couldn’t get him , we have negredo which is [Poor language removed] , why would they risk selling Cenk for 25m. When we get 50mil just from CL , besiktas is number 4 at the moment and most likely we will finish around there if we don’t get rid of Cenk and get a decent scorer , so will be at this forum and you will see exactly what I mean by the end of season
Also besiktas chairman is known to sell the player over priced and take them Back on loan for free next season
You should watch the games he didn’t score then Make up your mind , everyone looks fantastic on you tube
Thanks

I see no indication that he is going to stay here past this summer. He wanted a two and half year deal and we've given him an 18 month one which looks like a compromise and a bonus for keeping us up to me. With Everton the spending of money doesn't indicate that we're going to let him stay long term, the club is just badly run.

I look upon it as spending £20 million plus on a player who may not fit in with the style of football that a new manager wants to play and thus could be a complete waste of money. I've also got severe reservations about spending money on a 26 year old striker who's done nothing of any note in one of the big leagues.
