Everton’s pursuit of Cenk Tosun has hit a hitch with the club now involved in a stand-off with Besiktas over the price of the striker.

The Goodison Park club had hoped to seal a £25 million deal, which is inclusive of add-ons, tomorrow, but the negotiations have now become complicated after the Turkish side raised the price.

According to sources in Turkey, Besiktas are seeking nearer £27 million after the fee they have been quoted for the player they want to replace Tosun increased.

Everton are reluctant to improve their package with Tosun having flown to London in the expectation he would complete a record transfer for a player moving from a Turkish club.

Basically what I am hearing from BJK sources, is mostly to do with cash upfront. Besiktas chairman Orman doesnt want long drawn installments and he wants at least 15m first payment right away. And the remainder installments to complete by end of this season. He is a bit hard nut to crack once he decides on something.. we shall see how things play out. I also think orman is totally cool not selling cenk before their champions league 2nd round, since he can sell him during summer he reckons
