Out of Turkish clubs Besiktas for me has always been quite intreaging. ...IF we sign Cenk im happy to say this feeling will grow even stronger, naturally.

I've run the calculations.

5% chance he scores 20+ goals for the next 2 seasons and is regarded a huge success
45% chance he scores 5-10 goals and is sold back to a Turkish/German club for under £10m
50% chance he gets homesick, doesn't suit English football and is loaned out / released on a free and appears in "what were they thinking" Everton lineups in years to come.

I'm all for a calculated risk in the transfer market but a peak age signing, from a poor league, who plays in a dominant attacking team screams almost certain fail.

It may not be tourist Mecca beyond Ally Pally & the pubs associated with The Kinks and Rod Stewart but it is a fabulous place to live with so much green space, great and varied shops/restaurants and a grade 2 listed Art Deco cinema amongst the great amenities for locals

The restaurant he went to, Cilicia, serves the best and most authentic Turkish food in North London which has a large ethic Turkish enclave so it was a logical place for someone to recommend to him. It may even be that he/his family have some personal ties somewhere with the owners’ family?!

There's a couple on YouTube, both equally terrible. I was always of the opinion you could make anyone look good on a YouTube highlights video, that theory has been quashed.
