CB Pairing?

I've been wondering about this for a long time now; when Heitinga AND Jags are fit, and we've got the CM positions covered, will they pair up?

Now, it seems Moyes likes his left footed LCBs, and Distin is pretty good to be fair to him. But I'd love to see Heitinga and Jags in the same defence. I mean, could we really have a world cup finalist sitting on the bench? Because if Arteta and Felli are fit, he won't be playing in midfield...

It's a fantastic problem, one I'm not used to coming across as an Evertonian.

So:

1.) What do you guys think we'll see?
2.) What would you guys like to see?

Probably depends on the opposition. Interesting that nobody seems to consider dropping Jags but they'll consider dropping a world cup finalist...

I think Heitinga should start ahead of Distin, his distribution is way too good to leave him sitting it out. All players look way better when Jags is beside them, and Johnny has been pretty damn good anyway, so by that logic he should be a complete monster next year.

Interesting though that the player who has said several times this summer that he fancies a move to "a bigger club" is far from certain to hold down a starting place at his current club.

What about the WC final? He got sent off for 2 innocuous challenges that barely warranted cards and Webb sent him on the long walk because he knew he should have sent off 2 or 3 of his team mates prior to that and was looking for an excuse. He hardly put a foot wrong otherwise all tournament.

Not saying I'd drop Jags either, like.

With a 100% fully fit squad you have to look at who is best in all positions and Heitinga has people ahead of him in defensive midfield.
Best CB pairing for me is Heitinga/Jagielka

Maybe if Moyes wants to persist with Jags/Distin, he'll switch Johnny to RB??

Just that i wouldnt be holding that game up as a pinnicale of footballing excelence mate.

Didnt think he was great myself i though the Dutch werent great at the back, they got their system right though with two defenisve midfeilders, if anyone made it past DeJong and Van Bommel with legs they still looked shakey, but Johnny was the better of the two centre halfs. I dont think hes the compleate defender yet, i think he stillhas many flaws in his game at the back - hopefully he improves.

Heits and Jags by a mile.

This without any doubt. Moyes would be silly to think any different in this area.

Yobo and Distin are by no means terrible but do make mistakes. But come on, Heitinga played in the world cup final for gods sake and Jags should be Englands first choice centre back.

Easy choice.

I dont think its as clear cut as people are making out to be honest, i would be really surprised if Heitinga even if he was fit started, but i guess it depends on a number of things.

I wouldnt be surprised to a new centre half signed before the window closes either to be honest.

Interesting. Do you not think 4 (5 with Duffy) is enough?
