Yeah, it's a commercial risk but it's one the club should take.
It's one that Aston Villa took.
Whether we like it or not, the premier league is a global market and we are a brand.
The commercial departments job is to grow that brand and you don't do that with Castore.
I dont know the numbers but going roughly off your numbers...
Say Adidas pay half what Castore does but there is a 50% increase in sales, thats a £5m shortfall but far more exposure.
Brighton could probably get more from Castore than Nike, or Stake than AmEx but they don't because they look at the longer game.
It's simple. Kids don't want to wear a brand no one's heard of.
We will have the eyes of the world on us in August. Our kits should be made by a top tier manufacturer and our shirt sponsor should be a household name.
There's a new era starting at Everton, it's about time we started looking a bit bigger than biting off Castore's hand for a few extra sheckles.
Much to agree with.
Adidas is the only top tier brand we have never had. Of course, cant see it happening, with their close links to that lot.
I may have said this in another thread - now was the time to to find a good shirt sponsor too. Stake? Please....
