Castore - get rid?

For years the club have not maximised the commercial potential. we have to be honest that the Castore contract was the best we could get at the time. The reality is, unless Everton are winning things and playing in europe a big brand like Adidas or Nike are not going to pay us over £20m per season like Castore do.
Y
The club need to do more, I understand that and Castore could be doing a lot more with merchandise. I have some of the Castore stuff, I like it and wear it, I haven't had any of the quality issues some people have had. Its not the cheapest, but if it was, people would complain about that too
If you want to maximise your commercial potential you take the initial hit on the kit deal and switch to a brand that kids want to wear. Do what Newcastle and Villa both did.
If you want to hook the next generation of Everton fans, you need to switch to a brand that kids/teens want.\
You might lose out on initial upfront capital but you'll win in the long term.
Everton should be wearing Nike, Adidas, Puma.
(also, as I've mentioned elsewhere, Castore is poorly designed/produced over priced garbage)

Castore is absolute garbage, isn't it? Went into the Everton store in December and felt the fabric. It's absolutely horrendous, both in looks as in quality.

Don't get it really, if you have the money to pay Everton and other clubs a fortune to wear your stuff, then you would expect it wouldn't be that difficult to improve the quality of your product? As they are doing now, they won't survive in the long run.

Get that money is important for a football club. Especially one in the situation that Everton are in. But surely it must be the worst brand available out there?

Everton actually did try this... they had done research into the best selling brand in Merseyside and it was Under Armour... discussions took place (this is 2018 ish) only for UA to pull out of the Prem league.

Fair. Interesting to hear.
I'd imagine it's the same the world over.
I'm still bitter that the club didn't capitalize on Donovan and Howard over here. Mind blowing incompetence.

Commercially, this just doesn't stand up. We have to remember that we get £20m per season from Castore. We sell around 420k shirts a year and bring in £9.2m so we get additional money from Castore because they are trying to promote their brand and they want a brand association with us, as a premier league brand.

Nike, Adidas and Puma, do not need that, they are not going to pay us £20m or more to sponsor us and the idea, that they pay us the £9.2m and we have to make up the additional £10.8m from other merchandise sales, seems like a massive commercial risk for us.

Stick with Castore seen no issues with the kit not seen any shirts rip for Everton and training wear isn't bad we just need more options like they supply Rangers with.

Nike - Need to be tier 1 club like Barcelona to have the good designs otherwise template kits and training wear/keeper kits is all the same
Adidas - Same as Nike , we would probably have kits like Leeds
Umbro - Going back to Rangers and very poor designs recently
Puma - Probably best option although the past Puma kit was pretty awful hopefully now improved

Yeah, it's a commercial risk but it's one the club should take.
It's one that Aston Villa took.
Whether we like it or not, the premier league is a global market and we are a brand.
The commercial departments job is to grow that brand and you don't do that with Castore.
I dont know the numbers but going roughly off your numbers...
Say Adidas pay half what Castore does but there is a 50% increase in sales, thats a £5m shortfall but far more exposure.
Brighton could probably get more from Castore than Nike, or Stake than AmEx but they don't because they look at the longer game.
It's simple. Kids don't want to wear a brand no one's heard of.
We will have the eyes of the world on us in August. Our kits should be made by a top tier manufacturer and our shirt sponsor should be a household name.

There's a new era starting at Everton, it's about time we started looking a bit bigger than biting off Castore's hand for a few extra sheckles.

Most telling way to show dissatisfaction is to not buy the products. That can be tricky tho as a lot of people with kids will want to buy it for them.

There’s too much “whatever , that will do” with us, it really shows at times as well.

When looking at fan reaction and see a lot of “who’s arsed about a kit” where’s the incentive to have some kind of decent standard, even at those prices.
