Agree with this.
There are things to get upset about, but having someone ignore somebody who played 100 years ago is not one of them.
PS. I don't like him, but then again I don't like most of them.
ā¦.i was a regular at Bellefield watching Lancashire League games back in the day, so Iāve seen many players who came through but an incident with a young Carragher always stands out in my mind.
Watching from the tree-lined touchline of the āAā team pitch just inside the front gate, there was a few in for Everton v Liverpool. Carragher was involved in a challenge and the ball went out for a throw in. As is usual one elderly gentleman with his flat cap next to me automatically shouted āour ballā pointing in Evertonās direction, the linesman followed suit and Carragher went absolutely ballistic, calling the old fella an āold tw@tā.
He never let it rest. I thought what a horrible young man but I know from playing for them that theyād want that attitude from a young player. Steve Heighway was in charge and unsurprisingly did nothing from the opposite touchline. Carragher can be an unsavoury human being, it helped him become famous but will always show its face.

Wasn't it "Cags" who got hit with a coin and then picked the coin up and hurled it back into the crowd.
I know the person who threw it is a bit for doing it, but Carragher could have hit anyone with that coin even a Child.

Yeah this is true.
The other thing is, he's sort of wrong, too. Haaland is in the same bracket as Ruud VN, Drogba, even Shearer in spells. Good physical finisher with good work rate etc.
and I hate to say it prob Owen, Henry Suarez even peak Fowler alongside others for balance. Best ever 'forward' for me starts to include 7's and 10s like Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Beardsley and others I've enjoyed watching more than Haaland, who's impressive but not as inventive and can drift out of games ( albeit city's tactics have also been found out a bit now too )..
Haaland just happens to be in a side that's been waaay more dominant and therefore bagged a bit more loot. He's pretty grounded too, fair play to city they looked after his Dad and Everton let a good one slip.
I think CL is the measure of greatest forwards, and if haaland helped city to win again with great performances he starts to edge in that bracket which would make him one of best we've seen play in England.
But all this comparison of players over eras / leagues etc is so flawed. That's why Carragher is such a plum. He blurts out some sky fodder and people ACTUALLY CARE.
