He's a great goalscorer, but I'd rather have Henry, Suarez, Aguero, or Rooney in my team tbh. Much better players. Not as prolific, but brought so much to the teams they played in and weren't exactly goal shy.

Seriously though, Dixie Dean was definitely not a goal hanger and that antiquated offside rules is just a myth people use to try and downplay it. It was changed from 3 to 2 opposing players behind the ball when played forward in 1925 and it is still that now in 2025 so its still basically the same except for VAR. Deans 60 goal season was in 1927/28.

He holds the all time top tier records for the most goals in one season, the most goals scored for one club and the most hat-tricks overall and in a single season.

Haaland is good but has got a long way to go to to be anywhere near the level of Dixie Dean.

Its always hard to compare sportsmen of different eras due to the advancement of training, diet etc, but skill and talent is natural, I reckon even in today's game with all the benefits footballers get the likes of Dean, Best, Charlton, Pele would still be the best in the world.
