Taking off Seamus really hurt us and gave the initiative back to Palace. The Gbamin sub i think he had to make because James seemed to be out on his feet.

When we put Godfrey on as the extra right back he clearly didn't understand his role and Zaha made him look very ordinary.

There was no need to surrender the initiative and go so defensive. I think it was down to a combination of a bad sub and poor play from our forwards who didn't win one long ball.

Carlo is conservative and thats fine, it has worked already a lot of times. But when a defensive sub backfires then its very hard to go back on the front foot for a winner. Godfreys attempt at a header back across goal was more like a clearance.

It was an extremely frustrating match and the root cause of the draw was woeful finishing from Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison. The decision to sub Coleman also had a very bad effect though.
Yes we draw more down to grade A crap finishing.

If you're playing well expect the substitute number to hook you off.......

Is this about James? Because to be fair, even though he took his goal wonderfully, he didn't look fit in the slightest, I'm surprised he lasted 80 minutes. He looked goosed before we even kicked off when he struggled to take the knee. Whether you agree with the gesture or not, it worried me when he looked like he was in pain. Reminded me of Ronaldo before the 98 World Cup Final.

Like I say, he took the goal beautifully, and was literally our best player in possession, but I thought the extra legs would help us and the rest would help him. Unfortunately, Gylfi the ghost stood there with his hands on his hips and figuratively pushed Godfrey under the bus.

There's not an awful lot Carlo can do when you are undone by something so sloppy when the game should be dead and buried.

The squad needs an overhaul, and it will take time. Gambling like we did on the instant fix of the midfield for here and now was a valiant attempt, but we have had terrible luck with injuries that has left us with 3/4s of the same useless midfield we've had for the previous 2-3 years. And while the new signings have each shown at various points the value they add to the side, we have barely been able to field all 3 of them at the same time since we were top of the league in October.

Carlo has little chance of success because he is used to managing top players. In a strange way he is almost "out of his depth" trying to get a number of sub standard footballers to perform beyond their capabilities. He is forced to play them cos that is all there is.

Coleman if tired just stay back and defend, Godfrey was lost at rightback with Keen having a mare .....on James you do not sub him for a guy who has not played a game for two seasons .....if 2-3 0 up like we should have been then fine.....

I kind of agree, but think it’s also an excuse to give him a free pass.
