Can the Government tax your Carbon output?

Do you agree with it?*

*assumes listening pose and ponders thoughtfully

No, not fuel tax, carbon tax.

Its different isn't it?

*checks notes

In name yeah. But if you consider that cars, planes, household heating etc. are apparently our primary cause of carbon emissions, and they all use fuel, which is taxed, then 1+1 generally gives you two.

The more you use, the more tax you pay. The more you use, the more carbon emissions you create. So...

Ok then, what about a carbon tax then?

I get the fuel thing, but thats a fuel thing.

Thats not carbon, lid.

to much tax aready in this country so no from me, and the can shove global warming up there crack as well thats just another load of bull to tax you more on stuff

We have a carbon tax over here - stealth tax really, just ramps up prices really heating, electricity, fuel its a money making racket slanted with a positive agenda. Gives Governments the oppurtunity to keep income tax and social insurance rates low - while taxing somewhere else.

They're about to shaft you over there aren't they Macca? Didn't Gillard promise not to introduce carbon taxes in her election bid, but is now pushing them through? A lot of people upset by it, apparently Labour now down to 30% approval rating, coallition 55% or something.
