Captain

Osman seemed good, id give it to Baines personally though. Seems a lot more vocal these days and leads by example on and off the pitch.

Not sure Jags is captain Material but he was captain as his old club. Gibson suffers from injuries at the moment to be considered for captain.
Osman as captain the other day was brill, but was that a one off? We make to much fuss these days who should be captain? it should always be the experience wise one who got good leadership and who is GOOD ENOUGH for the first 11.
For me it should be Jags for now.

And yet John Terry - for all his 'off the field' behaviour - is a superb captain.

I think being a player with a good fitness record is a consideration too.

Fitness is and had never been an issue for terry he's a rat but his fitness has been something that's never really been in doubt (to my knowledge ), even the staunchest supporters of Gibson can surely see that's an area he's lacking in and is that somebody you want to be a footballing role model for the team ?

I'dlike someone who's fullof character. W e seem to have to many quiet types. Only Baines and Gibbo I don't think that way about.

Gibson has a certain authority on the pitch. The fact he does his job very well is also an important factor. A club captain doesn't have to be the best player in the squad, but they really do need to be capable of performing all of the tasks associated with their position to a high standard. That's the one thing that has undermined Neville at times, although I don't think he's been bad otherwise.

If Gibbo's lifestyle is part of the reason he's never been fit for a full season then I guess it negates him. Baines is a shout simply because if players see their captain perform as consistently as he does there's a decent chance it will rub off. Jags is kind of quiet on the pitch, so I'm not sure there. If Fellaini was to stay I'd be tempted to give it to him. A lot of players with bad disciplinary records who've gone on to become captains have done very well, and improved as players too (Cantona, Keane, Viera...)

I think he likes a drink (maybe a ciggie ? Although I'm not sure on that ) and I'm not sure he's strict on his diet.

I'm nowhere near as sourced as others with everton but I do know before we signed him ferguson made comments about his lifestyle to other managers . That's not to say there are any real problems with him but I'm not sure he's ideal captain material

A quote I heard only the other week was a 25 year old with the body of a 45 year old .

Lovely!

Think he has some good qualities on the pitch. Jags and Baines seem to quiet. So again we need McCarthy.
