Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Id disagree there Khal,on that final day there were about 5 teams changing places throughout the day,it was tremendous drama, certainly one of the most nerve wracking last days

Oh for sure, Jay.

Never mind the actual last day itself, it was the longest, most nerve wracking week of my life.

But does it linger in anyone else’s mind outside of our own, all these years later?

I would doubt it.

Football is all about glory and those type of lists and programmes are a celebration of that glory.

Wimbledon Day was not “glory”.....it was sheer blessed relief.

( though for me it remains and always will remain my best ever day as an Evertonian....I was actually crying real tears of heartbreak when we went two down...but at the end I was in floods of joyful tears :))

To be fair picking a Top 10 PL managers list is actually pretty hard:

Definites
Wenger
Fergie
Mourinho
Ranieri
Dalglish
Guardiola

Maybes?
Benitez
Mancini
Conte
Ancelotti
Klopp
Burley
Poch
Moyes

It was amazing thy given Liverpool have never won the premier league and United haven’t won it for 6 years now, more than 3/4 of the clips were about either of those clubs. Why is Liverpool beating City at home in a league game in a campaign when they came 4th a modern classic? May as well shove our 4-0 from the season before on there, it was certainly a better performance. I think Arsenal had about 2 moments, Chelsea had one which was Hazard scoring to give Leicester the title (Leicester had none themselves). So Newcastle’s 4 goal comeback didn’t make it, Chelsea’s first title in 50 years didn’t make it, Mourinho’s 95 points or Guardiola’s 100 points didn’t make it. Kompany v Leicester, or Hazard against Arsenal, no no none of them were as important to Martin as Liverpool’s home win over City.

Think it’s unbelievable how that 4-3 against Newcastle is STILL pushed as “der best game of all time” by Sky, despite the thousands of matches that have happened since. If Newcastle had scored the 90th minute winner it would never ever be talked about.

In reality the Premier League have SKY over the proverbial barrel.
All the PL need to do is to sell the rights to another bidder and that is
literally the end of SKY TV. However, that will never happen as they are
the two cheeks of the same backside. It's a cosy deal which has been
extremely lucrative for both sides down the years. If the PL did sell the rights
to another bidder such as Amazon then they would lose all influence on the
media side. It ain't never gonna happen.

that could have been in there, if United or Liverpool ever came back from 2 goals down to stay in the league from half time with a thurnderbolt like Horne’s goal it would be immortalised. Rooney’s debut goal could have been in there, 16 year old prodigy ended Arsenal’s unbeaten run and launched amazing career. Jagielka’s volley, not that significant but probably the best goal scored by an opposing team at Anfield in absolutely ages. It’s certainly bet the r technique than Beckham just woofing it from. The halfway line and the keeper falling over.

There’s even been better half way line goals than that. Figueroa, Rooney, Adam to name just a few.

It's because it's a script. It is done by design to pander to the overseas & UK based armchair fans.
Tyler probably didn't pick those games he was handed a script to narrate from. Tyler is legendary amongst
City fans for his noticeably muted celebrations and commentary when City score but screeching celebrations
when United or Liverpool score. The City forum Bluemoon has a thread dedicated to him for this exact reason.
Tyler is 'Mr SKY'. He's one of the worst of the lot but his job is to follow the script and he does. City fans
also have a sweepstake on him when is commenating on one of our games: It's how long it will take him to
namecheck Liverpool even when we are not playing Liverpool? It doesn't take long I can tell you. As I say he
follows the script to a tee does Mr Tyler

I suggested that was a sensible compromise weeks ago.

It is pure commonsense.

There is no way the TV companies and the PL are going to war over the issue of monies already paid in advance for this soon to be abandoned season.

The two entities are symbiotic.

They leech of each other.

Without the football Sky Sports and BT would be in crisis, they are already losing customers in droves during the lockdown.

Without the TV money the PL’s money tree is uprooted and many clubs will face extinction or at the very least, a return to the pre 1990s model of self sufficiency (the latter not a bad thing IMO).

They will arrive at a mutually necessary compromise deal.

Absolutely bang on the money in every sense!

Ancelotti has won it the same amount as Dalglish, arguably against tougher opponents (Fergie’s best United side). Conte and Mancini by the same token. That leaves 9 managers who have won at least one and then just one spot to decide on.

But the "Aguerooooooo" commentary is probably the most iconic PL one going.

Or was that not him?

But he won it with a mega rich Chelsea the same as newly rich Blackburn. Plus they hadn't won a Div 1 title since before the war whereas Chelsea had won it twice recently. It's a tit for tat scenario.
