Player Valuation: £750k
There has been a bit of talk that we need to have a similar player to cahill, Micheal Bradley has been mentioned as a possible signing. if you wanted a cahill type player Kevin Nolan would be the answer, he seem to be the English Version of tim for fine. However he's been soundly bagged on this site. But what we need is a Fernandes type player, (not nessicarily fernandes though) someone who will take the ball off Jags nev etc and link with peanut and arteta. The latest rumour of dudu fits this role. I think Cahill is has a ready made replacement in vaughan, this leaves AJ down the pecking order a bit for me, i really think we should be looking at cashing in on him soon before he starts to lose his pace. How many of you would happily swap Johnson for a quality cm possibly manny or Arsharvin??

I think, like most, the worry about Vaughn is the injuries. If he can put them behind him I'd be happy to see AJ move down the pecking order. And if we can get a good enough fee for him to replace him with a bit of class I wouldn't be unhappy to see him move on

I love the 'if' game

Not sure about Kevin Nolan. Used to think he should on the England squad but hasn't been the same player he was 2 years ago. Maybe because Bolton has been [Poor language removed] and he hasn't had too many opportunites. I don't know. He looks like he needs to lose about 15-20lbs though.

Bradley plays holding mid. I still think that Dempsey, if he'd played Cahill's position on a good squad like ours that he could bang in about 12-15 goals/season.

Nolan is crap. One of the most overrated Premiership players. He hasn't done anything for two years yet still thinks he somehow deserves a call up. A truly average player.

We need to be looking higher than Nolan in my opinion. We've got to many midfielders who strugle in a four man midfield and Nolan has always struggled in a four. He can only be accomadated in a 5 man midfield or a midfield containing three centre midfielders. His strength is feeding of Kevin Davies knockdowns and we don't have that type of player to supply him.

Not what we should be looking at. We don't need squad players or back up players we need first teamers who are going to make our current first teamers squad players. Thats the way to improve.

Michael Bradley could do a good job for us, i certainly think that he's worth a gamble, especially at around £3M this summer.

Steve sidwell would be a good buy. We would be taking a big risk with bradley as our league is alot more competative than the dutch league.

If i had to choose i would go with sidwell.he is a very good player and would take control of our midfield.

I dont think Bradley is mobile enough for that role, i could see Pienaar there or Ashavien, was gutted we missed out on Nigel Reo Cooker last season and dare i mention my personal faourate Joey Barton.

Ooooooh.

Lucky for you I'm all out of rocks.

Bradley would be a great addition but at the defensive midfield position, not attacking.

And I agree with Toxteth on Kevin Nolan. He'd add nothing to the squad and would just be another player that adds cover. We've got plenty of those (and some playing) so we need to aim higher.

Coyle mate you must be my long lost twin. You took the words right out of my mouth. Spot on mate. I've been hollering for Nolan for years. He is the exact replacement for Cahill. I think we will shop AJ while his value is up only because him and Yak can't work it out together. 4-5-1 dooms him with Yak the gaffers choice. I would be over the moon for Arshavin even if he was our only pickup in the summer.
