Well, a much worse Everton team earned the points for 12th and 13th. A club record spend and top 10 is the natural aim/expectation.

Was it much worse?

It's only KDH and Grealish who have had any impact at all from the summer signings.

Has it improved enough to go up 3 or 4 league places? Did the teams around us not also add to their squads?

The situation is pretty grim. The referee doesn’t seem to be on our side, and with so many players absent we can’t even put out a starting XI where every position is properly covered at Premier League level. O’Brien is a centre-back, not a full-back. But we can’t move Garner there either, because then we’d be left short in midfield.

The striker situation is a real mess, but I’d still give Beto a chance now. There’s not much to come off the bench. Röhl and Dibling just aren’t ready for men’s football yet.

All things considered, i’d probably take a draw.

It’s frustrating to be proven right. The game looks just as awful as I feared. To be fair, Dibling has been a positive surprise.
