Gutted for you mate.

Happened to a mate of mine recently. Forced the front door when they were out and took his missus brand new 3 Series BMW. Which they never saw again.

He had a lot of trouble with the insurance, as they intially tried to say it was their fault for leaving the keys in the kitchen and not having them somewhere secure. In your own house FFS !!!!!

Al lot of the time it's kids just out to nick a car and razz it around, before ditching it once the juice runs out.

If it's a high end sporty job, it may have been nicked to order and be given a new ID and then sold on.

A lot now depends on who you are insured with and how they deal with it.

Jeez man what do they consider a secure place? That's the trouble now, had car insurance for 20 years and never made a claim, they will try anything to get out of paying up I'm sure

Spot on.

It took him three months to get a new car, due to all the arguing over the keys until they gave in.

There should be something in bold letters on the policy that specifies this. How many people have a safe to put their car keys in !!!!!!

Well mine were in my coat which was inside a cupboard. Hopefully they won't be idiots about it...

They're complete idiots. If you'd kept the keys somewhere secure like a home safe, then there's a very real chance that instead of just taking the keys and scarpering, they could've threatened you and your family to open the safe.

As you say, it's not like you left them on the front window sill. They need to use some common sense here.

Sorry about this. It must be horrible to think that someone has been in the house. We had a bike taken from a garage and I didn't sleep for a month......

As an aside, does anyone want to buy a used Seat Leon Cupra, only 1850 miles on the clock.......

SEAT !!!!!!!

Sorry.. I meant. .

SAY IT !!!!

Absolute scum burglars. My thoughts are with you mate and hope you get the support you deserve. My grandparents got robbed before Christmas and lost 4 grand. I'm not aggressive in any way and have never been in a scrap in my life but I would love to absolutely batter and punish the vermin that did it.

You'd think. In my experiences, common sense doesn't apply when a big money orientated company with an army of lawyers can find an excuse to wriggle out of a contract and save a few quid.
Insurance is a nest of vipers surrounded by a swarm of wasps poked by a stick.
And the wasps wear rs shirts, just to complete my picture.

I'm the same. My boat was broken into a few years ago and stuff was robbed almost up to the value where it was not worth an insurance claim - ie the excess one gas to gave to get the premium affordable. The worst bit about it is feeling that some pool of cat vomit somewhere has got one over on you and invaded your space.

Like you, despite being rational long tempered and reserved, to this day I'm convinced that if I'd caught them at it then it would be me in gaol.

Once their semi decomposed bodies had returned to the surface, that is.

I was more angry that they picked my elderly vulnerable grandparents than if it would have been me on the receiving end. Cowardly vermin. Unfortunately these types are rarely caught either.
