Its doesn't even say we have put a bid in, just that Martinez wanted him at Wigan, he might not want him now as we have better defenders at Everton.

OR maybe he realises that "buying" a 31 year old, Alcarez, is bad business, considering we already have Distin.

I know hes 30 now, but in a month hes 31, seems a bad move having 3x30 CBs.

I really don't get the 'obsession' that people have with players reaching their 30's. Especially for the position of CB. You need experience in that position and as long as their strong and athletic build athletes I can't see the problem. Unless that problem is with regards to the sell on value. As Alcaraz is on a free, we don't really have to worry about that.

A bid seems to be the last part of the process in transfers these days.
yeah but our clubs seem to do it the correct way, he seems like he hoping Martinez will come back in for him now that he at Everton which he could do if he a fan of the player and I do expect another defender to come in.

Some interesting stats.

He won 3.6 aerial challenges on average based on his performances last year, which is only 0.7 off the average of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic.

He also picked up three man of the match awards last season (from 17 games), which shows that he seems to be able to raise his game well for the big matches in order to produce a superb performance.

That’s significant for Everton fans because playing in the Premier League is much more difficult than a career in Ligue One and playing for Everton, a historic English club, means he’ll have to endure some big matches and big rivalries.

He also has a higher passing success rate on average than either Distin or Jagielka, which suggests he’s a more composed player on the ball.

As things stand he’s got a market value of under the £5 million mark and just two years left to run on his contract with the French club.

He’s not a high profile player so if Everton want to go after him, and there are plenty of reasons they should, it should be a relatively easy deal for Martinez to complete and a real bargain.

I hadn't even heard of the lad a few days ago b it from what I've read I would love to have him, appears to be a really good player.

Hes not free, he costs wages, a signing on fee, I cant see this Bruno fella costing much, I just feel its more prudent to get a 24 Year old rather than a 31, considering that we already have a 30 Year old Jags and 35 Year old Distin.

This all day long, we need to lower the age In our team, build the next team around Mirallas, Baines, Barkley, Coleman.

That's why he might want both. Personally think it will be Distin's last year at the club. We have Duffy and Stones as back ups and the chance to send them out on loan to get some experience that way.
