Broken relationship with players ?

I've got a pal who works for a club where Martinez used to work and says he was hated there.
I never wanted Martinez but was drawn in by the attacking football and grew to him.
Then I realised he was [Poor language removed].

As the title suggests, what does this mean?

I think it means the players could not be assed putting any effort in anymore an example
the derby. Also does it mean that Martinez `may` have been very good if the players had not turned on him
and done the job they are highly paid to do?

Are Jagielkas comments that over 10 players could leave mean that the 10 lazy ass
players have their cards marked by Moshiri and they are being moved on ?
I think Jag's comment was just stating the reality that there are 6 or 7 players who's contracts are coming to an end/getting on and 2 or 3 who are likely to want to leave for more competitive teams. Even if it was a happy camp we would be seeing the same.

It's obviously a fresh start but I don't see it as a pop at Martinez. Rom on the other hand. Ouch.

However it does make me laugh at the nonsense about "building for the future" he kept going on about. We practically need a new team and if we hadn't been bought out by Moshiri we would have to find one with the sales of Barkley, Lukaku and Stones.

let me hazard a guess, you`re mate works at Wigan or Swansea?

There's a middle ground whereby, rather than totally losing interest, you're not fully motivated, make some sort of effort but, when you hit problems, you turn your back on it.

I guess when I've been in a couple of situations where my managers were terrible, it made me work that much harder to get promoted from under their control.

Martinez and his rubbish staff - players like jags and Baines seen through him I reckon McCarthy clicked on at the end too

If this is being put forward as some kind of justification for the way many of our players "downed tools" since March then we as fans have let our own standards slip.

No matter what about Bobby's limitations, we as fans are entitled to expect the players whose wages we pay to at least try their best.

What we witnessed on the pitch over those closing weeks of the season was totally unacceptable and has left a bitter taste in many people's mouths.

It has reached the stage where previously staunch supporters of Romelu Lukaku in particular, couldn't care less if he leaves us or not, such was his all too apparent lack of effort.

Players downing tools because they don't think the manager is any good?

That way lies madness.

2 fingers up to every Evertonian in doing so, that pay sums of money to watch them representing their team, if you cba playing then don't collect your wages either.

Spot on.

It is a world gone mad where people are trying to justify this type of behaviour as being "good for the long term future of the club".

Yeah right.

Like Lukaku and Stones have any interest in the "long term future of the club" :hayee:

Let's assume the players are top pro's - co's they've already showed talent and hard work to get to the top of their profession.
So, think this means the players played and tried the best they could to work crap game plan and system. Any that didn't try wouldn't be playing at all.
The players would still be trying hardest but if the system ain't going to work the players aren't stupid, they'll know.
Even knowing this as they surely did at the end it's going to affect performance.
Really don't believe any top pro would consciously stop trying tho.

Not saying they give two forks tbh but people are saying they wanted them to prop up a failed manager and system. We should be thankful they stopped buying the BS and downed tools or we'd be looking at relegation in one of the next two seasons.

Sorry, your whole argument crashes and burns when you say we should be "thankful" that a bunch of millionaires went all Bolshie and commenced a work to rule because they didn't like the way the manager played football.

Neither did I by the end but I still went to watch it.....me and almost 40,000 people.

What are we....The Ragged Trousered Everton Philanthropists?

We never downed tools or worked to rule.

We should be "thankful" for the tripe we were served up by Lukaku and company from March....lol

So you'd rather they scraped minimum expectation this year(say 9th and a cup final) and Roberto nosed dived us to the championship while a couple are able to jump ship?
Soz abar you having to watch a few crap games this season but next season would have been much worse after losing players and still having Martinez.

They were trying their hardest for 6 months and still throwing away points left and right and being made to look foolish. If they decided to down tools because they knew there was no point to their effort... well, that's not excusable, but it is understandable.

Now, if Martinez was actually competent and the players downed tools because they simply didn't like him, there would be no explanation for that.
