British Imperialism - good or bad?

Another time where empires were important.

From a nationalistic perspective it was fantastic that we ruled the world so to speak. If we didn't conquer the world then someone would have conquered us.

Probably wouldn't be a good thing now invading other countries.

I reckon you watch Zulu thinking " I would have loved to have been there "
 
We are still exercising colonial power over our ex-colonies. We just do it economically now rather than with violence. Our ruling classes are determined to keep the global south in slavery.
 
As a nation we, for the most part make a big thing about being proud of our history but do the venerable members of GOT share this enthusiasm and if not why not?

Pride is a word designed for the self-satisfied. I am not proud of anything

are we?...all of us, about everything, why's that then?
the war was a long time ago
effectively so was the empire, they both ended together, but the british couldn't see it, but they did eventually
eg. Macmillan's winds of change

- war is old and invariably wrong
can't argue with that, but was the 2nd ww wrong or wrong but necessary, thus right...for a given value of right
