Price = supply + demand, it's silly to suggest "there's nothing we can do"

It's an interesting model--between free market and oligopoly--but support is an important (and hard to quantify) part of the equation. Matchday revenues may not affect the bottom line, but try lining up your squad with an empty stadium or quiet crowd and see what results you get.

I think i more mean what can we do without affecting ourselves. We enjoy football (increasingly less nowadays but still) and the chances of actually getting enough people to do this without being told we are liverpool fans is near on impossible. So really it'll be a few not going on principle and the rest just carrying on. On a personal level, is no football better than the situation we are in?

I know I've opened myself up to "well if we'd done nothing when..." in real situations (world wars etc) but you know what i mean, this is different and in some cases is people's highlight of the weekend, part of social life etc. The question is more how much of a difference CAN we make without marches etc, which clearly wont work because we dont want association with, ironically, a group of supporters who have forced change effectively more than once...

I dunno, there's always a fear of the 'kopite behaviour' tag but I have a healthy respect for the way they voiced their dismay at the 'gillette and Hicks' ownership. It's not like they're the only fans to ever do that. They did really well to get the media onside which is why the post about Greg O'Keefe is worrying. The people running the club haven't just looked in to how to neutralize the threat of the blue union, you can be sure they took note of how H&G were ousted across the park. (and I know the banks were the main reason for that but the fans getting the media onside definitely helped)

Can we have an "Epic Swindle " please.

HSG was a failure of massive proportions, almost ruining 3 sports franchises before the toys were taken away. For all they may get wrong, Kenwright and gang manage according to the bottom line and won't get pushed out by creditors. HSG lost LFC to creditors and his two American clubs through bankruptcy sales.

To be fair, why wouldn't this be the case? the club IS a private company, and the fans ARE like militants, and after the blue union thing they CAN be seen as spies.

Elected governments act this way, why should we expect a company not to? Its like when people say Google should be virtuous and think they are like a "government" of the internet...they aren't, they are there to make money. Football is big business - there's nothing we can do about what happens in a club anymore.
Alright brian

See he has already got his feet under the table.

When did we last hear from BK?
Where is Elstones monthly column?
When did we last hear from the club on anything?

The guy is so far out of touch with modern day football. Villa fans hated him.

Did he exert his influence to get the previous thread on his appointment disabled for postings?
Renound for that with Vills fans and forums.
Worst appointment in decades internally at the club.

Rather than making disgraceful accusations at @GrandOldTeam

Elstone is probably busy with WHP at the moment and LCC to be commenting about relegation that was never going to happen.

Elstone doesn't have time to read x10000000 threads on Martinez in/out

Like poor @GrandOldTeam has had to sit through.

Priorities. New Stadium development.

Elstone takes more biking holidays than any staff member. Hardly busy

Doogan sent codes of conduct to Aston Villa forums. Hardly surprising to ask the question .

Its been answered now anyway.

Didn't someone once say how lucky we were not to be a club from the west midlands?
