brian has some good qualities mainly he is aggressive towards the media. he has his beloved greg okeefe and the rest of them eating out of his hands. very much a scratch our back we scratch yours. dont and he makes life difficult. good for the club as no serious questions ever asked by local media when ambition isnt there

his biggest fault which a lot here dislike him for is seeing the fan base as militants. the club is a private business and no one steps over the line unless its positive. sometimes staff would invite fans who were taking pics of dixie when there is no mach for a stadium tour but he went mad thinking fans shouldnt be allowed behind the scenes as if they are spies! doogan will divide an conquer the fan base an paranoia from elstone and the rest over the blue union ever coming back is a big reason why they wanted a little pit bull

so personally. as a fan. he is very bad. if i was the club. very good.

Everton FC will never change under these custodians but I expect more from the media and the fan base - it,s one thing to boo your team and players when they play crap but to stick your head in the sand to way the club is beeing run for the last 20 years is frankly hypocritcal at best.

Ooof, this, combined with GOT's point "He replaced Alan Myers who replaced Paul Tyrell, who replaced Ian Ross" make for grim reading. If Martinez doesn't get things right by Christmas, this could all come to a head. The club owners seem to be building defense in order to protect their asset.
FWIW, I think Kenwright's heart is in the right place, the problem comes with the other owners and the backers who presumably helped Kenwright buy his stake. I believe that these people see the club as nothing but an investment and they seem to be staffing in order to protect their asset at all costs. Grim.

I think it's just a case of saying that things are easier when they're going well. This season there's been much more adversity and it's shown with how the club has tightened up its presence, ever since Myers left his role. Not any of this group's fault when all the supporters have given stick to anyone and everyone.

To be fair, why wouldn't this be the case? the club IS a private company, and the fans ARE like militants, and after the blue union thing they CAN be seen as spies.

Elected governments act this way, why should we expect a company not to? Its like when people say Google should be virtuous and think they are like a "government" of the internet...they aren't, they are there to make money. Football is big business - there's nothing we can do about what happens in a club anymore.

Oh my days ! I guess this a sign of what we as fans are up against with the club and it,s "associates"

"associates"? best place to start would be the local press. It was stated that they are in the club's pocket (essentially), and once you control the press you control public perception. I've been reading a lot about that in politics/government etc recently and the way Everton work is exactly the same. The question is, what can be done about it? The journalists seem to ignore any "ask real questions" comments on twitter, and the deflection articles (the gareth barry one being the latest nothing article, and osman saying something about top 4 next season) only further distracts the general, non-internet obsessed public who will lap it up. "Top 4 next year lads, its only a blip".

The way they use propaganda is bad, but like i said, if governments lead the way by doing it constantly (Iraq war....) why should we expect private companies to behave differently?

It's a flawed comparison, If i don't like the way google is run, I can switch to use services by apple, microsoft etc. If I don't like the way Everton are run, I'm not going to switch club.
As Everton fans, there is only one club to support so in a sense the business has a monopoly over the fans. The only ways for fans to change a business like this is to damage the business reputation of those running it by showing discontent or to cut off their financial supply by boycotting.
With the huge TV deals now, the second option in increasingly less effective, leaving the first, which is why the club have hired this fella.

Just for arguments sake, when do we hear from the anti-board posters when the club are doing well? We know the board hide when we're doing badly then you can't keep Kenwright's mug off the telly when we're doing well, that's always been the way. Seems to me though if you want change you must always want it, not just when we're losing......

True Google is a bad one - was just saying it as another example of someone saying a private company should do anything outside its own interests. Like you say the equivalent is boycotting, something I can't quite bring myself to do (though am not looking forward to these last 5 home games this season - if i didnt have a season ticket already id give myself 5 months off football completely). It'd be easier if the club took any money for....anything, like merchandise or catering, but its run so badly they get a set fee anyway so that would be pointless.

It's an interesting model--between free market and oligopoly--but support is an important (and hard to quantify) part of the equation. Matchday revenues may not affect the bottom line, but try lining up your squad with an empty stadium or quiet crowd and see what results you get.
