My parents have been a few times and loved it.

Apparently it's beautiful, spotlessly clean, lovely people and and laid back.

...so, I'm away in Madeira and bought a book called The Holicaust for bit of light reading around the pool. I didn't know that the Riu Palace Hotel would be full of German tourists.

Sorry to hear your down. There's probably others with a better perspective on it than me - all I can say is try and focus on the good. Doing something to help someone usually puts me in a better mood, failing that there's always the fit birds thread.
