Trying to figure out whether to take a company car or car allowance is confusing. All this tax stuff is making me feel really stupid.
Just worked out that It'd cost me at least £3,000 a year out of my salary to have a company car. Compare that to +£4,500 on my salary (which is crap for car allowance, apparently) as an alternative and it comes to a grand total of....

£7,500 a year for the 'privilege' of having a company car. LOL.

Looks like I'll be keeping my 10 year old Focus a bit longer :(

That can't be right - surely? What type of car would they be giving you - an 'S' class benz or summit?

But, if the company car includes fuel for both private and business, all servicing, tyres and insurance, give it some more serious thought.

I'm Currently eating a small Fairtrade Ghanaian Dark chocolate bar with infused with spices and orange oil..... it's stunningly enjoyable.

When I lived in Accra, I found Ghanaian chocolate a much stronger taste than UK chocky

Haha. Nope, a VW Golf is the best one I can choose from. I'm in the bottom category!

Yeah there's a lot to consider.

If I wanted to include unlimited private miles, then it'd cost me another £3,000 a year. Reimbursing the company works out a lot cheaper and you only pay the mileage at cost (more or less), which is the case whether I take a company car or the car allowance. But yeah, tyres, servicing, insurance, MOT, tax is all included in the cost.

If my calculations are correct, I'd roughly lost out on over £530 a month if I took the company car instead of the car allowance. Put MOT, insurance, servicing and tax in to the equation and it's only about £1100-£1300 a year, (insurance will increase slightly as I'll have to declare it as Class 1 business use). Tyres about half that as I only buy Michelins brah and they last forever.

HEY GUYS JESUS LOVES YOU

Well that's what some crazy bird from California is shouting outside central station on a microphone

Congratulations mate, hope it leads to a lot of success for you and your future patients.
